Another wedge came as Rauner decided to sign legislation to expand taxpayer-funded abortion for state workers and low-income women. Around the same time, the governor and Rasmussen parted ways.
It was the abortion legislation that fueled the rise of state Rep. Jeanne Ives as a primary challenger to Rauner.
And now Ives has won the backing of former Rauner donor Dick Uihlein, who’s given her $2.5 million. Uihlein also has been a major donor to the Illinois Policy Institute and the Liberty Justice Center.
Asked Thursday to comment on his relationship with Uihlein, Rauner said he “can’t say there is one.”
“We all make our choices,” he later added.

I feel so bad that this friendship has come on hard times.

C’mon, man. How many times have you said “this is the business we’ve chosen,” and you whiff here? Get your Hyman Roth on.
Rauner’s smackdown on Tillman was about the most prepared I’ve ever heard him in taking questions from the press.
He was ready to go, and wanted to tee off.

THe damage being done to Rauner by Ives, the Quincy Veterans Home, secret spending, and outright stupid comments is massive. He has an approval rating of 26% and going down like a bullet. Rauner is in trouble, and he is to out of touch to understand it. The BTIA are just people who say yes to him to protect their jobs, or maybe he is just so arrogant he won’t listen. Ether way I think the voters have had enough. (Toast)

Has anyone asked the rank-and-file Republicans how they are fairing in this Battle of the Sugar Daddies?

Is it possible that now former Rauner donor Dick Uihlein thought that the Rauner position of having no social agenda actually meant that he held an anti abortion position?
- Arthur Andersen - Friday, Feb 9, 18 @ 11:12 am:
Well, it depends on what the definition of “is” is.
