In one week, Illinois Republicans will weigh in on the direction they want to take the Illinois GOP and thereby Illinois.
Will they nominate a candidate– as FNC Host Tucker Carlson put it, a “Fake Republican Governor”—who doesn’t deserve to be re-elected and will not be re-elected regardless of the Democrat nominee.
Or will they act consistent with their stated desire for new, conservative reform government.
Are Illinois Republicans ready to revolt against the Ruling Class?
Jeanne Ives frames the choice for GOP primary voters in her closing argument TV and radio spots.
You’re more worried about the production than the message. I guess you are use to pristine million dollar Rauner made ad’s with lies and disinformation.
Good ads for a hard core Republican audience. 2,000 points statewide is massive. Pushing them on the channels that older white voters watch will make for some pretty concentrated dosing.
Conservatives always win by huge margins in Illinois. If we could just nominate more conservatives then people will come out to vote in general election in droves! Even Chicago would elect a Republican then because now all the Republicans just stay home, because they don’t have a real conservative option to get them to the polls.
- South Shore Bob - Tuesday, Mar 13, 18 @ 3:20 pm:
In case you haven’t caught on by now, this whole campaign is a sham orchestrated by Proft and Rauner to position Rauner toward the center.
Your judgement may be colored by how you already feel. If you’ve been here, you’ve got a much greater awareness of who’s who and what’s what?
The ads are actually very good and very strong. If you’ve heard, but had no previous personal experience with her, and you’re evaluating her carefully for the first time; these are excellent ads.
Straight forward. Direct. She looks as confident and attractive as we’ve ever seen her. She says who she is. She says who he is. She doesn’t come across as a maniac, but exactly the opposite. Rational, thoughtful, and well spoken. She makes the argument for change and asks for your vote. The “vote for Her” line is a nice and subtle (but not too subtle) reminder of other things orbiting these days.
It’s well paced, well timed, and well executed. Whoever directed these is someone different than who’s been on the job to date. Lighting good, angle good, professional clothing, good colors, good make up…and for the only time I can remember; a pleasant and inviting tone.
== Don’t kid yourself. These are really good ads. ==
Don’t kid yourself. Ives has sabotaged herself and she had some help from people who like to spend/mispend money.
Good straight-forward spots for a GOP primary. Asks for the vote, which I think is important. Not slick, but that can be refreshing after the overload of political spots.
She should have started with these. I think the “attention” she got with her first spot was way counter-productive.

Good ads. They’re about conservative voters and Raunerism, the lack of principles.

Voted early and still glad I did. Sorry Jeanne, but not looking forward to Four years of Dan Proft running this state. I will take Madigan over Proft 100% of the time.
I feel the same sadness as I felt when I saw Trump signs in people’s yards now when I see Ives signs. I just know that I can never be friends with those people. I’m good with conservatism, but not bigotry and racism. Ives is a bigot and racist. She and her Proft/Breen ilk need to be voted out of every office they seek.

This is her closing. Sigh…

Terrible. It’s always about her, not the voters. She still doesn’t grasp even the basics.

I lowered the number to “32.5”…
After today, and some enlightenment, I’m going back to “37.5” as the number.
These ads don’t make me move the number up beyond the “37.5”

“Vote for her”? That’s almost Ron Burgundian right there.
Uhm. Jean? You are “her.” Even thought it might haves said “her” on the script, you are reading it. You should say “vote for me.”

It seems like these are variations on a theme ready for focus group or some other kind of testing. Why they’d release such similar ads is beyond me.
Oh yea, and they’re not that good. It’s like they tried to squeeze a 45 second script into a 30 second ad.

“good lighting”
“The “vote for her” line is a nice..”
Sorry but nothing you said before or after those statements can be taken credibly at this point.

29.4

OW if you are right and Ives gets in the neighborhood of 37.5%, she spent how much for 6-7 extra points?

Ives got to run against the governor who signed HB40
Marter… never had that luxury.
The money and such is reinforcing that and other Rauner truths, but keeping Ives exactly where she’s at. Nothing more.

Good ads. Good candidate. Rauner’s so unpopular, he could lose to “other”. Ives is GOP’s only chance to win in the fall.
