* The Rauner campaign launched an online ad this morning and JB Pritzker is following suit. We’ll see how long this takes to escalate into network broadcast TV…
Following a decisive primary election victory, the Pritzker campaign released its first general election ad, “Four Years of Failure.” The new ad highlights Bruce Rauner’s four years of damage, crisis, and pain as the worst governor in America failed to take charge of Illinois.
“As we enter the general election, it’s important that Illinoisans understand the true damage Bruce Rauner’s failed leadership has done across our state. From unleashing a 736-day budget crisis on Illinois, to slashing funding for social services and letting a Legionnaires outbreak spiral out of control, Bruce Rauner is a failure,” said JB Pritzker. “For four years, this governor lurched our state from crisis to crisis, doing irrevocable damage to Illinois while claiming he’s not in charge. Bruce Rauner caused real pain to children and families across this state and it’s time to turn the page. I’m running on a record of bringing people together to get big things done with real plans to put our state back on the side of working families. Together, I know we can defeat Bruce Rauner, bring real change to Springfield, and move Illinois forward.”

* Meanwhile…
Today, the JB Pritzker campaign launched “Rauner Failed Me,” a multimedia campaign highlighting the real people that have been hurt because of Bruce Rauner’s failure as governor.
Five people from across Illinois will introduce the campaign by sharing their personal stories about how Bruce Rauner has hurt children, immigrants, students, veterans and workers in every corner of the state. The Pritzker campaign will highlight their stories and more on a new website, RaunerFailedMe.com, to bring into focus the human impact of Bruce Rauner’s gross mismanagement of state government.
“While Bruce Rauner forced a 736-day budget crisis on Illinois and wiped his hands of responsibility, real people across the state suffered the consequences,” said Pritzker campaign manager Anne Caprara. “Illinoisans young and old, working families downstate and in Chicago, our middle class and those striving to get there all paid the price because Bruce Rauner failed. The Pritzker campaign is committed to sharing the stories of those who have been hurt by Bruce Rauner and bringing people together to hold him accountable.”

Finally.
That’s what the alleged 3D chessmaster/Democratic Party chairman should have been doing for years.
If he had, maybe his approval rating would be better than Rauner’s.
Four questions for JB 1) You approve of a 4.95% state income tax ? 2) How much higher do you think the state income tax could go? 3)Should Illinois increase its’ budget in the near future? 4) Do you endorse Mike Madigan being Speaker of the House?

Four questions for JB 1) You approve of a 4.95% state income tax ?
Right now, with the income tax at its levels and Rauner wanting it repealed, Rauner is not only using that tax increase to balance his own budget, Rauner spent $1.1 billion over what was approved in a budget the GA had to pass over an override. Rauner can’t make his budget work without the monies, Rauner overspent while having the monies.
2) How much higher do you think the state income tax could go?
Progressive income tax plan needing a constitutional amendment is the plan. Budgeting within the tax *now* will be the temporary fix. Just as Rauner is currently doing.
3)Should Illinois increase its’ budget in the near future?
What priorities are we talking about? Budgets weigh and measure priorities. Discuss what you want weighed and measured.
4) Do you endorse Mike Madigan being Speaker of the House?
According to the rules of the House chamber, a governor doesn’t have a vote or say in either chambers’ leadership
Because Kennedy or Biss wouldn’t have had an ad ready to go the morning after the primary slamming Rauner hard???? Total non-sequitur.

Throw the “social issues” out and the fact remains Rauner miserably failed anyone desiring for our state to be fiscally responsible. While none of us like to pay higher taxes, the fact is the bill backlog had been cut from $10 Billion to $5 Billion when we were. Now? $16 Billion thanks to Governor No Budget. He mistook his election for a “mandate”. I can only hope the next “billionaire” we elect will be more efficient at governing than what we are currently witnessing. The big dollars must feed the ego in ways most of us can’t begin to comprehend.

I would say this line of attack will be a tad more effective than “he’s Madigan’s candidate.”

To me, the question is this an election of ideologies or a referendum on who is in power?
Given the high overall voter turnout last night, it appears to be the latter. Now the question is, is it a referendum on Madigan or Rauner.
Given the high turnout in the Democratic Primary and the low turnout in the GOP primary, I would, again, say the latter.
Now the question is, can Pritzker keep the excitement up or can Rauner drive excitement down. My money is on Pritzker…by a mile.

One of the low-key pitches for Pritzker was that he was the only candidate who would/could do this.

It seems infinitely more effective to not let those last eight words be played in ads, right?

Sounds like something Sam would put out if he was running for govenor

Rauner the pessimist or Pritzker the optimist? That is the choice for the General in a nutshell.

And Rauner has to try to drive excitement down among Democrats when Donald Trump is in the White House.
