* Perhaps the headline should read: “Brown has astounding lack of self awareness”…

  1. - Boone's is Back - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:08 pm:

Nothing says turn the heat up to the Feds like announcing a mayoral bid.

  2. - m - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:08 pm:

This is the kind of thing downstate people think of when someone says “Chicago”.

  3. - TopHatMonocle - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:13 pm:

Well, she does need a plausible reason to solicit money from people..

  4. - Roadrager - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:13 pm:

I love that there’s a hashtag on the poster for someone who runs her office as if the internet was never invented.

  5. - Arsenal - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:14 pm:

    This is nuts.

  6. - TominChicago - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:14 pm:

I don’t think she’ll be mayor but all the fed investigation stuff was known when she ran in 2016 and she still won rather handily. That said, she won’t have Burke and Madigan’s support in this race

  7. - Amalia - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:16 pm:

she had such promise. just another one of the bad apple bunch.

  8. - Me Who? - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:19 pm:

The going rate for a job with the city of Chicago will be $50,000.

  9. - A guy - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:22 pm:

Gonna be blue jeans days at City Hall. Cool.

  10. - ZC - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:24 pm:

As TominChicago notes, people criticize Madigan for all kinds of things that aren’t his fault, but he doesn’t get near enough criticism for something he’s legitimately guilty of, which is aiding and abetting Dorothy Brown all these years.

  11. - ChrisB - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:27 pm:

I wonder if the campaign workers will be allowed to wear jeans.

  12. - ChrisB - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:28 pm:

    @A guy,

Should have refreshed before I hit send.

  13. - Honeybadger - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:32 pm:

Come on, why don’t politicians realize enough is enough?

  14. - The Mesozoic Slate - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:34 pm:

If she is able to put a slate together along with Joe Berrios for Treasurer and Dan Burke for Clerk, things could get very interesting.

  15. - @misterjayem - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:39 pm:

    Shamelessness is a political superpower.

  16. - Responsa - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:46 pm:

    Bless ‘er heart.

  17. - Greg Hinz's earring - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:47 pm:

    Dear Rich,

Can we PLEASE, PLEASE make the question of the day a campaign slogan for Dorothy?

  18. - 44th - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:51 pm:

think of all the $10,000 payments she would make if Mayor, why not gamble her $4,000 war chest? low odds but huuuuuuuge payoff if she beats the odds….. only in Chicago.

  19. - Ron Burgundy - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:53 pm:

Agree with the earlier comment that if anything this will push the Feds into overdrive. Public officials under the heat lamp going away is one thing, sticking around and seeing higher office is another.

  20. - Ben Gazzara - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 1:52 pm:

You know when people type LOL, meaning “laugh out loud”? I never do that. But when I do see this particular headline pop up on my phone as breaking news, I literally do laugh out loud.

  21. - Quizzical - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 3:12 pm:

Is she a stalking horse? Rahm would sure love to add more choices for ‘anyone but Rahm’ voters.

  22. - JakeCP - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 3:39 pm:

    I have no words….

What does she gain from running for Mayor while under investigation?

  23. - Just Me - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 3:56 pm:

She is just running so she can get a pay-out to drop out.

  24. - Anonymous - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 4:11 pm:

Will her campaign slogan be “40 vacant lots and a goat” or some such variation?

  25. - NeverPoliticallyCorrect - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 4:27 pm:

All these candidates are running as a conspiracy to dilute any meaningful opposition to Rahm. The machine is at work. Love the paranoia.

  26. - a drop in - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 5:24 pm:

Rahm’s unpopular enough to come in third. Wouldn’t that be something?

  27. - Back to the Future - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 5:29 pm:

Rham vs. Dorothy. Tough choice but I think I might go for Dorothy. While she is not the poster child for good government - - she is not Rham.
Hope I have a better choice. If she makes the run off and Rham does not make the run off then I will vote for- - — anybody but Dorothy.

  28. - Anon35 - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 5:47 pm:

    @a drop in

I agree with this sentiment. Rahm is hated outside of tech circles and Lincoln Park.

The cynic in me could also see her being a stalking horse to help take out the anti-Rahm black vote.

  29. - crazybleedingheart - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 6:29 pm:

==Rahm would sure love to add more choices for ‘anyone but Rahm’ voters.==

No, that’s not how this election works. Every vote he doesn’t get puts him closer to a runoff election.

  30. - Stuntman Bob's Brother - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 9:31 pm:

In other news, a bronze statue of Marion Barry was unveiled on March 3rd in the nation’s Capitol.

Dorothy obviously believes in the power of forgiveness and short memories.
