One employee told federal investigators that the “going rate” to buy a job in Brown’s office was $10,000, to be paid to her personal bagman. Brown has repeatedly denied wrongdoing and has not been charged despite a nearly 5 year investigation: https://t.co/5CxjhgQ008
How does Brown expect to run for mayor while navigating an ongoing federal investigation? “I’m going to hold off on saying anything about that,” Andrews-Keenan said. “She wants to address that all at once in front of everyone on Sunday. She’s going to lay everything out then.”
I don’t think she’ll be mayor but all the fed investigation stuff was known when she ran in 2016 and she still won rather handily. That said, she won’t have Burke and Madigan’s support in this race
As TominChicago notes, people criticize Madigan for all kinds of things that aren’t his fault, but he doesn’t get near enough criticism for something he’s legitimately guilty of, which is aiding and abetting Dorothy Brown all these years.
think of all the $10,000 payments she would make if Mayor, why not gamble her $4,000 war chest? low odds but huuuuuuuge payoff if she beats the odds….. only in Chicago.
Agree with the earlier comment that if anything this will push the Feds into overdrive. Public officials under the heat lamp going away is one thing, sticking around and seeing higher office is another.
You know when people type LOL, meaning “laugh out loud”? I never do that. But when I do see this particular headline pop up on my phone as breaking news, I literally do laugh out loud.
Rahm’s unpopular enough to come in third. Wouldn’t that be something?

Rham vs. Dorothy. Tough choice but I think I might go for Dorothy. While she is not the poster child for good government - - she is not Rham.
Hope I have a better choice. If she makes the run off and Rham does not make the run off then I will vote for- - — anybody but Dorothy.

Nothing says turn the heat up to the Feds like announcing a mayoral bid.

This is the kind of thing downstate people think of when someone says “Chicago”.

Well, she does need a plausible reason to solicit money from people..
- Roadrager - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 12:13 pm:
I love that there’s a hashtag on the poster for someone who runs her office as if the internet was never invented.

If she is able to put a slate together along with Joe Berrios for Treasurer and Dan Burke for Clerk, things could get very interesting.

Is she a stalking horse? Rahm would sure love to add more choices for ‘anyone but Rahm’ voters.

I have no words….
What does she gain from running for Mayor while under investigation?
- Just Me - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 3:56 pm:
She is just running so she can get a pay-out to drop out.
- Anonymous - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 4:11 pm:
Will her campaign slogan be “40 vacant lots and a goat” or some such variation?
- NeverPoliticallyCorrect - Thursday, Apr 19, 18 @ 4:27 pm:
All these candidates are running as a conspiracy to dilute any meaningful opposition to Rahm. The machine is at work. Love the paranoia.

I agree with this sentiment. Rahm is hated outside of tech circles and Lincoln Park.
The cynic in me could also see her being a stalking horse to help take out the anti-Rahm black vote.

No, that’s not how this election works. Every vote he doesn’t get puts him closer to a runoff election.

In other news, a bronze statue of Marion Barry was unveiled on March 3rd in the nation’s Capitol.
Dorothy obviously believes in the power of forgiveness and short memories.
