* Sen. Sam McCann to the SJ-R…
“If you don’t plan on voting for Pritzker, vote for me. I’m your best chance.”
Well, that’s an interesting campaign slogan.
* JB Pritzker to WCIA TV…
“The truth is, I share really nothing much in common with Sam McCann on the issues,” Pritzker said. “But I think he is a fine human being and certainly a public servant. So I am glad he has decided to run.”
“Pritzker thinks a guy who lied about being in the Marines and scams his campaign donors is a fine person and public servant,” Rauner campaign spokesman Will Allison fired back. “That says a lot about Pritzker and the Chicago Machine’s attempt to use dirty tricks to sway this election.” […]
“Well, Bruce Rauner is a liar,” Pritzker responded on Saturday. […]
But was there a coordinated effort to recruit McCann as a conservative attack dog to hobble Rauner?
“Oh no, there was absolutely none,” he said.
(Headline explained here.)
*** UPDATE *** That didn’t take long. Google Sam McCann and you’ll see this ad…

Bravo, finally he’s willing to come out and say it. I’ve gotten very tired of mealy-mouthed politicians and journalists in Illinois using qualifying language like “well, we don’t know that it wasn’t an honest mistake” or “perhaps the guy truly believes that” or “he just didnt have his facts straight” when covering this governor. On all issues both big and small, even on subjects that don’t require any dissembling or embellishment - the man is a congenital, reflexive liar. Period.
- Ducky LaMoore - Monday, Apr 23, 18 @ 10:51 am:
Hopefully he doesn’t make it on the ballot. The last thing JB needs is another person on it to siphon away anti-Rauner votes. The more people on the ballot, the more an election favors the incumbent. Do the democrats really want a guy on the ballot conservatives can have any level of excitement about, who will draw them to the polls to vote for Congressman, State Rep etc?

I think there is bipartisan consensus that JB is a liar
“Leading Democratic governor candidate J.B. Pritzker was called a “liar” and a “fraud” by two rivals as the billionaire businessman’s ties to secret offshore shell companies became the focus of the final forum of the campaign Wednesday night.”

Careful what you ask for. Frustration with “mealy-mouthed politicians and journalists” is one of the reasons we got Trump.

Blase Cardinal Cupich thinks Bruce Rauner lied to his face.
You want to go down this road?

LP, let’s talk about Bruce Rauner’s grandpa.

That’s Sam not being quite-ready for prime time. Which is why it remains to be seen how big an impact he’ll really have.
- TominChicago - Monday, Apr 23, 18 @ 11:21 am:
Wouldn’t there be bipartisan support for the proposition that Rauner is a liar as well?
- Streamwood Retiree - Monday, Apr 23, 18 @ 11:23 am:
@ Ducky
There is ZERO chance that conservatives will vote for Pritzker. They have three choices:
1. Stay home
2. Hold their nose (and their gorge) and vote for Rauner
3. Vote for McAnn
As a supporter of Pritzker ( I was a Democrat until the 2016 Clinton debacle) I’m glad they have the third choice. Maybe they can take their Party back. I know I’d like to take my Party back to its FDR/Truman/JFK/Johnson roots.

Surely the hill of which candidate during this campaign is a bigger liar is not the one you want to die on.

Why is the Rauner camp so upset that McCann is trying to enter the race, with all of the governor’s accomplishments and bipartisan good will?

To be honest, this list is incomplete and may not be bipartisan:

LP “thinks” Pritzker is a liar. Most anyone who has remotely paid attention “knows” Rauner is a liar. He started with his election night phone calls to Madigan and Cullerton and hasn’t stopped since.

- Grand Avenue - Monday, Apr 23, 18 @ 11:59 am:
Something to note - if Sam McCann cracks 5%, then the “Conservative Party” becomes established in Illinois for the next 4 years, meaning they have lower signature requirements and get to elect Committeemen. It could make life even worse for Illinois Republicans.

=I think there is bipartisan consensus that JB is a liar=
Lol. Whew. That is a humdinger right there. LP, you get the “Bruce Rauner, Pants on Fire” award for that one.
Good, funny stuff.
Do me a favor and share with the class what exactly Leslie Munger does and what specific skill set she brought to that position? Other than failing at elections. Because Rauner said he was transparent and going to shake up Springfield. There is no way he would lie right?
- 47th Ward - Monday, Apr 23, 18 @ 12:12 pm:
Regarding the update: it should be Democratic Pawn.
- Lucky Pierre - Monday, Apr 23, 18 @ 12:24 pm:
Former Hillrod, Daniel Biss and Chris Kennedy and countless other Illinois residents agree with me that JB is liar and a fraud about his finances.
JB is also lying to Illinois residents, promising more government spending in a state that has not balanced its budget in 18 years and is still in the middle of a budget crisis about to get worse because of the pension ramp.
All the new spending he has promised will be possible because of a constitutional amendment that will magically just raise taxes on rich people.
Don’t ask to see the math, that will all be worked out. Trust him. Like George Washington, he cannot tell a lie
Goodwill Hunting couldn’t solve that problem.

It’s too bad all the noise from the Guv’s campaign is focusing on JB and McCann - it’s distracting us from all the big news about all the jobs and investment the Guv is bringing back from his trip to Germany and Poland

===Illinois residents agree with me that JB is liar and a fraud about his finances.===
Bruce Rauner has such a blind trust, he talks about what’s going on within the blind trust on the porch of the Governor’s Mansion.
Seriously.
…
Are you trying, or are these trial talking points designed to fail?
===(Illinois)… is still in the middle of a budget crisis about to get worse because… ===
Let’s bresk this down, shall we?
Rauner has yet to sign any full fiscal year budget, making any budgetary failure that you see Rauner’s, as Rauner, in your opinion, is taking steps to reform Illinois, which is more important than a short term budget stalemate… or was that the governor’s former floor leader, advocating before Illinois went two years without a full fiscal year budget, and getting s budget completed last year, stopping the purposeful destruction of Diana and Bruce Rauner’s Raunerite Party.
If you want say the past 18 years, and Pat Quinn failed, and by nearly every measure Illinois is worse off since Rauner took the oath… and Quinn was replaced… how can Rauner think he deserves a second term, according to Candidate Rauner?

Until Friday, I was going to stay home. ILGOP needs to know that with a new Conservative Party, I’ll vote for ILGOP conservatives as well. I used to vote for conservative Democrats too, but they’re rare exotics.
So ILGOP, McCann is only Anti-Rauner, like me, not anti-ILGOP.
- Arsenal - Monday, Apr 23, 18 @ 3:50 pm:
==Daniel Biss and Chris Kennedy==
Yeah? Let’s ask them again now that they aren’t directly competing with him for a job.
And then let’s ask Ives about Rauner’s honesty.

“Countless” because you’re pulling this out of your hat.
