* GOP (dis)unity watch…
Just over a month after her narrow primary election loss to incumbent Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner, state Rep. Jeanne Ives said she’ll continue to spread her message across the state.
“I have a responsibility. I can’t just hide,” said Ives, a Wheaton Republican, during a stop at the Decatur Conference Center and Hotel to address members of the Restore Our Constitution political group. “I’m not going to hide or go away. I’m not going to do that.”
Ives said she plans to tour the state raising awareness of issues such as pensions and fiscal responsibility, and campaigning for fellow Republican candidates in an effort to win a majority in the state House of Representatives. […]
Ives said it is likely she will also start to make campaign visits with Republican candidates as the election season heads into the summer. […]
Asked who her supporters should line up behind [for governor], Ives said it was up to them to decide.

…Adding… DGA…
“Bruce Rauner tried to ignore her, lie about her, and hide in Europe from her, but his Jeanne Ives problem will be front and center in this race,” said DGA Illinois Communications Director Sam Salustro. “Ives just told her supporters they could vote for anyone, including Sam McCann, and her continued presence on the campaign trail for anyone but Rauner is just a reminder of his failure.”

She isn’t a gracious loser, that’s for sure. Rauner certainly ran a dishonest campaign against her with the Madigan nonsense and her anger was justified but she really needs to move on.
- Amalia - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:21 am:
the conservative Bernie Sanders. keep talking. Dems will run against you too.
- Retired Educator - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:24 am:
The thorn in the foot will continue till November. Rauner made a bad enemy. She will take every opportunity to call him a liar she can get. It will leave a mark.
- Annonin' - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:24 am:
Maybe the Commando and Biss could team up on a “Two People Who Think They Should Be ….” Tour
- Chris P. Bacon - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:26 am:
Rauner repeatedly said Ives is a Madigan flunky so shouldn’t we assume Rauner wouldn’t want the support or endorsement of a Madigan flunky? Seems obvious since Rauner says Madigan is the root of all evil.
- DarkHorse - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:28 am:
Sounds like she hopes Rauner loses, then runs again in 2022.
- A guy - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:32 am:
Ill advised. She gained some support in her run. This…is wasting that gain.
- MissSweetCorn82 - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:33 am:
Rauner will have no trouble losing this this race - with or without anyone’s help.
- Anonymous - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:33 am:
Is she angling to cohost Joe Walsh’s radio show? (Does he still have a radio show?) Maybe she can land a job with a Proft/Tillman shell corp

Hell hath no fury….
- SinkingShip - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:37 am:
That’s too bad.
- OneMan - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:39 am:
Perhaps she could do a tour with Pat Quinn
- Profteering - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:43 am:
Step 1 - Lose a gubernatorial primary
Step 2 - Say yes to every microphone opportunity
Step 3 - Up your profile with a radio show
Step 4 - Trick a billionaire into being your patron
Step 5 - $$$$$$$$
- Board Watcher - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:43 am:
Her behavior is the exact reason people couldn’t get themselves to vote for her. She truly isn’t a team player and never was. Her first add was truly a portrait of the person she is, angry and hateful.

“Perhaps she could do a tour with Pat Quinn”
or Daniel Biss
- Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:48 am:
All Ives and McCann (if he can stick around) need to be doing is embrace that Rauner failed Conservatives and keep that 3-7% away from voting for Bruce Rauner… but support the GA members in their bids to win too
This is the kinda stuff that festers and can’t be dismissed, walked back, or forcibly attacked by a nominee who as a sitting governor has many sides pointing out the failures and the divisiveness.
McCann could stay in Central Illinois… Ives could go everywhere else.
Phonies like Mr. Breen might be torn, but I doubt it.

Ives 2022.

If Ives attitude is reflective of her voters, Rauner might as well start his sprint to the middle now.
As with all Illinois statewide candidates, he has to get there, anyway, to have a chance.
- Anonymous - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 10:58 am:
This should gin up enthusiasm for the McCann bid.

“Ives said she plans to tour the state…”
Who’s footing the bill for this planned “grand tour”?

Maybe McCann’s campaign can buy her a truck.
- Chicago Cynic - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 11:26 am:
Jeanne Ives is petulant? Who knew.
- SSL - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 12:02 pm:
Ives is misreading the tea leavesif she thinks her success against Rauner makes her a viable candidate for governor in the future. The Dems would have a field day with her extremist views in a general election, and she doesn’t represent the GOP.
Don’t go away mad Jeanne, just go away.
- Old Time R - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 12:44 pm:
For those who think she is a serious candidate for Governor in 2022 your terribly mistaken. Maybe in her and Profts workd but not in the real world. She is a one time wonder and won’t survive the primary next time either. Four full years of her campaigning around the state will only hurt her. As Sanguinneti said the more you deal with her the more you dislike her.
- Stuff Happens - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 12:54 pm:
Somebody thinks they’re playing the long game, at least until 2022… Maybe not even at the state level any more.
- walker - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 1:51 pm:
An encouraged loser.
- Michael Westen - Wednesday, Apr 25, 18 @ 8:34 pm:
“the more you deal with her the more you dislike her.” Change the gender and that applies to the Governor as well.

“Ives said she plans to tour the state…”
Who’s footing the bill for this planned “grand tour”? GOOD question. But will we ever get the true Answer. But you can bet if you follow the money it will lead back to Proft who was the shadow behind her primary bid for governor.
