Question of the day
Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller * Keep in mind what I’ve already told you about the number of graduations on the 31st…
It’s not totally out of the question. * The Question: What would be your reaction if the budget was completed a day early?

- Cubs in '16 - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:24 pm:
Huh, guess Rauner really is a unifying force.
- DuPage - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:26 pm:
Someone pulling a “fast one”.
- Precinct Captain - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:26 pm:
Rauner finally learned how to swing a hammer?
- Oswego Willy - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:28 pm:
If it passed a day early with overwhelming veto-proof majorities…
… my reaction would be… “Your move, governor”… as Rauner became too much for all of state government to bare anymore.
- Montrose - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:30 pm:
Confused. Disoriented. I would look at a map and verify which state I am in.
- JS Mill - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:37 pm:
It would be an “Inception” like moment where I would have to check my “totem” to see if I was dreaming or it was real.
- Mr. K. - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:38 pm:
Rauner finally doing his job?
I won’t believe it until I see it.
- Chicago Cynic - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:38 pm:
I’d wake up.
- Ducky LaMoore - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:39 pm:
Sounds good. But not going to get my hopes too high. I am still living by the philosophy, “he who expects nothing, shall not be disappointed.”
- Casual observer - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:43 pm:
I predict the Governor will say there is a poison pill in there somewhere.
- Trapped in the ‘burbs - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:44 pm:
I wouldn’t say anything. I’d just fly away on my unicorn.
- Anonish - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:45 pm:
That Rauner’s political needs overrode his incompetence at governance.
- walker - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:48 pm:
The governor is beginning to understand the political risks of appearing to fail.
- Pieroge tirebiter - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:49 pm:
Sure it will. Then I’ll go apple picking with Scooby-Doo right after.
- Grand Avenue - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:50 pm:
1 day early makes up for 735 days late in my book
- Dome Gnome - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 2:50 pm:
Pinch me?
- Nick Name - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 3:02 pm:
The Matrix has us.
- Etown - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 3:05 pm:
Won’t believe until I actually see it and will keep my reservation for Thursday night
- VanillaMan - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 3:50 pm:
It means I woke up in 1986.
- Boone's is Back - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 4:22 pm:
Astonishment
- I Miss Bentohs - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 4:24 pm:
I think it is more likely that LeBron James will miss the Finals but Cleveland sweeps them anyway.
- Anonymous - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 4:39 pm:
Rauner has to have a budget no way around it. The Dems are negotiating against themselves if they give anything. Rauner has told both caucuses no money for the campaigns without a budget. Dems could roll the GOP right now and Bruce would sign.
- Langhorne - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 4:44 pm:
But, but, what about the end of session party?
- Anonymous - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 4:57 pm:
Is Tina a Druid?
They are the ones who knocked on oak trees in Europe to bring out the spirits.
- Hexagon - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 5:09 pm:
Anything can happen in an election year.
- The Dude Abides - Tuesday, May 29, 18 @ 6:12 pm:
Common sense tells me that Walker is right. If there is another budget fight that carries on through the Summer I don’t know how that helps Rauner in November. OTOH this isn’t an administration that that has exhibited a lot of common sense the last 3 years. When wearing my tin foil hat I suspect that Rauner might want to do as much damage as he possibly can before leaving office in January.
