* Team Rauner…
An Apple a Day Keeps the IG Away
It’s been rumored for years that Mike Madigan’s daily routine includes a “single, sliced apple” for lunch.
If Madigan has eaten a single apple everyday since he was first elected speaker on January 12, 1983, he would have consumed 12,935 apples as of today, enough for approximately 1,423 apple pies.
That’s a lot of apples!
With harassment allegations roiling Madigan’s organization, an apple a day may keep the Inspector General away, but it won’t end the culture of harassment and retaliation he has created.

If this doesn’t prove that Team Rauner has an unhealthy fixation on Speaker Madigan, nothing will.
- Wow - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 11:47 am:
Apples are to blame!’
- 47th Ward - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 11:49 am:
The big apple in the center is called a Golden Ginger.
- Montrose - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 11:50 am:
I’m going to go out on a limb and say this ad is not Team Rauner’s strongest work.
- Texas Red - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 11:51 am:
Apple’s are anti-oxidants - not sure why MJM is still around..”In the laboratory, apples have been found to have very strong antioxidant activity, inhibit cancer cell proliferation,”

==The big apple in the center is called a Golden Ginger==
And is likely the source of the term, “Bad Apple”.
- Albany Park Patriot - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 11:54 am:
Do these people get paid for these ideas? That’s amazing.
- illini97` - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 11:55 am:
Uhhhh, ok, so what does Team Rauner plan to do? What are they asking the viewer to do or say about this?
Did you know Charles mound is the highest natural elevation in the state? That’s equally relevant to Governor Rauner’s electability.
- Wensicia - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 11:56 am:
This ad makes absolutely zero sense.
- 360 Degree TurnAround - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 11:56 am:
This is awful.
- Oswego Willy - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 11:57 am:
If I’m to believe the 16% polled blame Rauner solely for Illinois’ woes, and Rauner is sitting at 26% approval with only 16% solely blaming Rauner… Rauner has a super-severe likability problem that won’t be fixed going after Madigan who sits just above 21%, and isn’t running against Rauner.
If Raunerites feel Rauner can’t be any more likable already, or ignore the realities of Rauner and his own polling issues… we’ll see more stuff like this, and Rauner’s own numbers will stay exactly where they are.
It wasn’t an accident that “Brewskis” had to be started.
Tough to win when no one likes you.
Mike Madigan is running unopposed.
- MissingG - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 11:59 am:
I get that they’ll do anything to talk about Madigan, but saying he eats apples and it could be X number of apple pies seems…absurd? What’s more lovably American than apple pie?
- Buford - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 11:59 am:
Wow that’s almost as many press releases as Team Rauner has had including the word “Madigan”!
- 47th Ward - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:00 pm:
How do you like them apples?
- Stuff Happens - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:02 pm:

At times like this, I wonder what creative concepts were rejected in favor of this “winner.”
Lame borrowed-interest to the non-sequitur of the always-wacky-hilarity of sexual harassment.
Whoever did this one doesn’t have the creative chops to work for Proft.
- Three Dimensional Checkers - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:08 pm:
Just when I was worried Madigan was too much of a political liability.
- Barrington - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:09 pm:
Love the ad. Made me laugh. But did not sway me to not vote for Mike Madigan even if I can’t.
- Fixer - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:14 pm:
Madigan and the apples he controls…
- Langhorne - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:16 pm:
Apple: about $1.80 for a honeycrisp
Wine: $10,000 for a bottle
- Montrose - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:19 pm:
“And is likely the source of the term, “Bad Apple”.”
And if you are going to do an apple-themed political ad about your nemesis, how do you not work in him being a Bad Apple? I mean, the bad apple spoils the bunch? Culture of harassment? Get it? How do you miss that?
- Rabid - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:24 pm:
The apple of team Rauners eye

Blame it on channel surfing the Tony Awards last night, but the headline just triggered an earworm from Rent’s “Seasons of Love”….
Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes.
Five hundred twenty five thousand moments so dear.
Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes.
How do you measure,
Measure a year?
****
Maybe Vanilla Man can make a parody to that;)
- wordslinger - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:27 pm:
–Love the ad. Made me laugh.–
Why would Team Rauner want anyone to laugh about sexual harassment at all, especially allegations against the Madigan crew?
Do they not think it’s a serious issue? If you can laugh and make fun about it, must not be that big of a deal.
Brainless concept, poorly executed.
- Rabid - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:27 pm:
He is a musselman
- TopHatMonocle - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:33 pm:
It’s been rumored for years that Bruce Rauner’s folksy manner of speaking includes dropping a “single g, when words end with -ing”, like the 36 g’s he dropped during his 2018 State of the State address.
If Rauner has dropped as many g’s everyday since he was first elected Governor on November 4th, 2014, he would have dropped 47,340 g’s as of today, enough to spell the word “governing” 23,670 times.
That’s a lot of g’s
With harassment allegations roiling a Rauner appointee, dropping 36 g’s every day may keep the budget away, but it won’t end the culture of failure and not-being-in-charge he has created.
- Texas Red - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:34 pm:
Here is one team Rauner should have used for MJM…
Only one type of apple is native to the U.S.: The crabapple.
- Stuntman Bob's Brother - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:35 pm:
I remember Moe referring to Curly as an “applehead” in at least one short. Maybe Team Rauner is going after the Columbia Pictures viewership?
- We'll See - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:38 pm:
Apples have pectin (a good source of fiber) - maybe Team Rauner could benefit from eating apples

All those apples led to the BTIA’s word salad.
- Gooner - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:49 pm:
This remind me of the South Park episode about the Island of Misfits Mascots.
Apples to keep the I.G. away makes about as much sense as the Sexual Harassment Panda.
- JS Mill - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 12:49 pm:
Wow, that is one lame ad. Brutal.
- Flynn's Mom - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 1:10 pm:
What do we need to eat each day to keep Rauner away?
- pawn - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 1:15 pm:
Dumbfounded. This is probably the stupidest political advertisement I have ever seen. What a joke!
- anonnamee - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 1:44 pm:
Missing the important question, how many scoops of ice cream to compliment the apple pies?
- Anonymous - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 1:52 pm:
I thought the frat boys had moved on.
- Skeptic - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 1:52 pm:
“All those apples led to the BTIA’s word salad.” Maybe they were eating Waldorf salad?
- a drop in - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 1:56 pm:

FGFM, that link to the Osmonds in their Elvis jumpsuits should have come with a warning.
Nothing against the Osmonds, good clean fun if you’re into it, but getting blindsided is trippy.

- Union Thug Gramma - Monday, Jun 11, 18 @ 8:33 pm:
Maybe Team Rauner should start eating more apples which have antioxidants, fiber, and assist with cardiovascular, gastro good health. The Rauner team talks instead about apple pie which is loaded with sugar, is processed which loses some of the health benefits. Maybe, just maybe, if team Rauner begins to eat apples instead of apple pie, they could come up with a real ad.
- Rabid - Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 7:26 am:
Team Rauner should head back to the locker room
