* Bill Bloom, deputy GOP State Central Committeeman in the 17th District, in today’s Dispatch-Argus…
Pritzker clearly wants Rock Island County, so he is willing to try to buy it. He clearly wants to be governor, so he is trying to buy that as well with big giveaways and a “wink-wink” promise to “tax the other guy.”
While I don’t hold out much hope of the $1 million being used to pay down some of the debt Democrats have generated in the county, that isn’t really what worries me.
He is planning to buy the county with his money and with it the state election.
If you search “Rauner” in the contributions section of the State Board of Elections’s website, you would find the Governor and Mrs. Rauner have personally donated nearly $112 million to political organizations since October 2012.

$112 million. Oy vey. What say you now Mr. Bloom?
- Oswego Willy - Friday, Jun 15, 18 @ 2:31 pm:
Diana Rauner is a Democrat.
- Last Bull Moose - Friday, Jun 15, 18 @ 2:40 pm:
Rauner sold a pig in a poke. We now know that was a bad buy.
Pritzker is sufficiently unknowable to be another pig in a poke.
I will take my chances with the unknown.

Well done OW, I needed that today.

Last Bull, care to inform us of any accomplishments JB may have?
- Oswego Willy - Friday, Jun 15, 18 @ 2:55 pm:
- The Captain -
Sometimes life… ya know.
Have a good one. Thanks.
- XDNR - Friday, Jun 15, 18 @ 3:00 pm:
Anonymous, is there a reason Rauner is not running on his accomplishments?
- Papa Mikey - Friday, Jun 15, 18 @ 3:03 pm:
Oh Bill, don’t worry the RICO GOP are still of the Ives/Profit variety and still recruiting terrible people to run for office. It’s thanks to you.
- lolliniois2 - Friday, Jun 15, 18 @ 3:09 pm:
Pritzker shouldn’t have to spend much in RICO to win, not with the way Bloom ran the RICO GOP into the ground
- City Zen - Friday, Jun 15, 18 @ 3:11 pm:
JB contributed one million dollars to Rock Island County Democratic Central Committee in one day.
Bruce, either personally or through his Citizens for Rauner PAC, has contributed $244,700 across all years and across all county PACs (PACs with the word “county” in it, not an exact science), including $2,500 to Rock Island County Republican Central Committee.

I am already tired of this campaign. Is it possible to move the election up to tomorrow and get this voting thing over?
- Oswego Willy - Friday, Jun 15, 18 @ 3:14 pm:
Oh - City Zen -
You dismissing $112 million, or just ignoring it.
I want to know why I’m laughing is all.
- Former Downstater - Friday, Jun 15, 18 @ 3:29 pm:
Papa Mikey and lolliniois2- it is amazing how bad the RI County GOP has been for so long. There was a chance at something when Bobby Schilling was elected but that quickly faded. We’ll see if Neil Andersson and Toni McCombie (although the 71st isn’t really much of a RI Co district) can survive re-elections after winning what were essentially referenda on Mike Jacobs and Mike Smiddy, respectively.

Bloom is a leading candidate for the Rauner Memorial Hypocrite of the Year Award.

That’s some ego Champagne and caviar first-class ego trip. It’s their money, I get it.
But Bill and Melinda, they ain’t.

Y’know, when I saw all these references to RICO, I thought y’all were referring to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act.
