Rauner cuts off Wilson’s money
Wednesday, Jul 25, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller * The governor has said he’s given Willie Wilson’s foundation $200,000…
He said the same thing about the Illinois Policy Institute not all that long ago. Fine friends he has.

Sounds like Rauner gives money away without the value of that money being considered or how that money is used.
Sounds also like “I will give you money, but you do what I want with it, and keep it quiet if what you’re doing isn’t the brightest of ideas”.
Wealthy people are an odd sort.
That includes Dr. Wilson.

The fact that this guy could just blow $100,000 without thinking about it tells you everything you need to know about the need for marginal income taxation in Illinois.

Good thinking to close the barn door after the horse already got out.

That Rauner. He’s one crafty fiscal conservative. My admiration for him grows daily.

Hope this doesn’t have a negative impact on Mr Wilson’s music career.

He knew. Or should have assumed based on past practice of ‘C Note Willy’. Rauner is such a fraud.
- Anon221 - Wednesday, Jul 25, 18 @ 9:50 am:
Rauner’s added a costume to his closet- track suit for runnin’ away from and jumpin’ over hurdles on the re-election course;)

“But how can we blame this on Madigan?????”
- BlueDogDem - Wednesday, Jul 25, 18 @ 9:51 am:
It does kinda strike me as amusing that handing out cash is a no-no. But when it comes time to hand out pork barrel projects, it’s business as usual. For both parties.

Leave it to the Tribune, trying to distract from Wilson’s re-open Meigs Field agenda…

Just think of all the good that could be done with all this campaign cash. When will we get it together in this country and start doing the right thing.

Twitter journalism. Ask the question on line first and then wait for the campaign to answer? Lately I’m seeing that all the time from many professional journalists. Shouldn’t Maxwell have asked the campaign first before posting his question on line?
Just asking.

Rauner’s no longer giving money to Wilson or the IPI, pretty soon he won’t have to bankroll the entire Illinois Republican establishment if he doesn’t want to, he’s about to be swimming in dough. Potentially literally, he could actually build a Scrooge McDuck vault full of money to swim in, and frankly he should.

–Shouldn’t Maxwell have asked the campaign first before posting his question on line?–
Shouldn’t you have summoned the energy and attention span to read Maxwell’s entire tweet before playing victim?
Read the last line of the original tweet.
- Rich Miller - Wednesday, Jul 25, 18 @ 10:25 am:
Word is right, Louis. He did ask. They didn’t respond. So he tweeted. It worked. That’s how Twitter is supposed to work.

IPI, Dunkin, Wilson, etc. has Bruce ever heard that a fool and his money will soon part?
- walker - Wednesday, Jul 25, 18 @ 10:34 am:
$200 grand? That’s about what Rauner makes in half a day of non-work from his former employer.

Let’s be fair to Wilson here. Wilson has been doing this exact same thing for years now. Rauner was right there the last time he did this same thing in January, and Mr. “fightin’ the corrupt system” presumably didn’t say boo about it to either Wilson or the press. Now all of a sudden it’s a big problem for Rauner only because he wanted to glom onto Wilson’s “property tax are too high” publicity show by giving a campaign speech inside a church, trying to get some attention from the AA community.
Only now is Rauner running away from Wilson’s org, but it was fine before? I’d think Wilson and the congregants should be the offended party here. If Rauner was ok with this happening in January, he should be fine with it in July.

Sadly Rauner & Wilson show how disconnected those in politics are from the average tax payer/voter. They use money to do their bidding and work; we have to do the work ourselves. BTW did Rauner give money to IPI since August ‘17 “fall out?”
