Former Rep. Nick Sauer withdraws from the campaign
Tuesday, Aug 7, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller * Click here for the confirmation. There was an expectation that he’d resign his ballot spot last week, shortly after he quit his House seat. That didn’t happen. But the House Republicans have been saying all along that this was a simple formality and he’d eventually file the paperwork.

So now that it’s official, will his resignation give the Democrat (Mary Edly-Allen) a better chance of winning? Or can they just replace him with anybody and call it a day?

I wish him well on the next stage of his career, mainly, mounting a criminal defense.

His future paperwork will be far more than a formality.

Depends on whether they can find a candidate of the same caliber as Arthur Jones and Bill Fawell.

I guess the only bright spot for the Republicans is that the charges against Sauer came about before the end of August. I believe the date they can appoint a replacement is August 23rd. If the charges came after that date he would be stuck on the ballot.

He resigned. That’s the only bright spot. It’ll get brighter when justice prevails.
