It’s precisely because of this kind of attention to detail, excellent planning and keen eye on the ball that makes it no surprise they’ve raised tens of dollars from corporate partners to rebuild the fairgrounds. Yessir, this is how a businessman governs. The sky’s the limit with a team like this.
Mailing it in.
Looks like a group of folks more concerned about sending out Careerbuilder resume’s than actually running an office.

So presumably the State Fair is where Rauner could exert almost total control, if he wanted to, which exactly what he wants from state government. And yet..
When you don’t care about institutional memory and just parachute-in inexperienced folks… you get this. I can’t recall quite this many mistakes in a fair under Becky Doyle, do you?

While we are at it…
Those are not milkshakes in the dairy building, that is soft-serve ice cream.

I’d say the Rauner Crew and appointees are mailing it in but that would be to disparaging to people who actually… mail it in.
The Rauners, the Crew, those who see things honestly, they’re tired, they’re “done”, they seem to want this over?
Is that how you get such gross negligence?
How can the obvious errors, for example “every day is Friday” be glossed over as just simple errors?
Is the fair for the “simple folk” Rauner mocks, so why take it seriously?
- Dance Band on the Titanic - Monday, Aug 13, 18 @ 9:54 am:
Somewhere ck is laughing at all of this.
- Norseman - Monday, Aug 13, 18 @ 9:56 am:
Given Raunerworld failures, it could have been worse. They could have made every day Monday.

Clearly, the BTIA(TM) fair squad has a secret beer tent they are working out of. Maybe moonshine tent.
- Bulbous1 - Monday, Aug 13, 18 @ 10:15 am:
If it’s this bad in the Governor’s back yard what can we expect at the DuQuoin State Fair…oh my!
- Gruntled University Employee - Monday, Aug 13, 18 @ 10:17 am:
Looks like the BTIA has gotten a head start on the whole legal weed thingy.
- Flynn's Mom - Monday, Aug 13, 18 @ 10:24 am:
@Dance Band on the Titanic-she is laughing out loud.
- Arthur Andersen - Monday, Aug 13, 18 @ 10:25 am:

These explain a . lot. Here I thought they were mean and uncaring and in fact they are simply incompetent.

And at the Tribune Editorial Board, Kristen McQueary must be wishing for the State Fair to be leveled by its own Hurricane Katrina.

On the other hand, I’m sure Illinois State Fair notices never got this much attention. According to plan? /s

I wonder if they’re having a “spot the mistake” contest, but forgot to publicize it.

“Hello, John Slayton? How much do you think you could raise in the next 12 hours to get us a proofreader for the Fair?”
