* Those Sam McCann/Conservative Party “Rauner Rino” mailers are landing in other House districts. Subscribers have the full target list. From the Kankakee Daily Journal…
Rep. Jeanne Ives, R-Wheaton, who barely lost to Rauner in the GOP primary, said McCann is working for Madigan. While some are voting for McCann because he is pro-life on abortion, Ives said, they should know the senator is attacking a few of the most pro-life legislators.
“If you are pro-life or speak up against public sector unions, these mailers are supposed to hurt you,” Ives said in an interview. “Sam McCann is not about winning the governorship. This is about silencing the rest of us. The end game here is doing Madigan’s bidding.”
[Rep. Lindsay Parkhurst’s] campaign spokesman, Timmy Pawula, said he was baffled with McCann’s mailer “with no valid points” to back the claim she is a “Rauner Rino.” […]
Most of Parkhurst’s money comes from Republican organizations largely funded by Rauner.
That’s some good newspaper writing right there, folks.
If it’s fair game for the Republicans to constantly harp on Speaker Madigan’s influence, it’s fair game for McCann.

I guess they don’t like the taste of their own medicine. Too bad for them that McCann isn’t interested in giving them a spoon full of sugar to help it go down.

Can’t disavow Rauner when he’s funding your Raunerism…
“But… Madigan”
Yeah… ok.
- ChanceMcCall - Tuesday, Oct 23, 18 @ 11:39 am:
The question is, will McCann voters abandon him and vote for Rauner? How much difference would that make in the Governor’s race?
- Lucky Pierre - Tuesday, Oct 23, 18 @ 11:40 am:
Do you see the irony that Mc Cann is a Republican but the Speaker’s has orchestrated his campaign and that is supposed to be the same as Republicans going after the Democratic Speaker?
- Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Oct 23, 18 @ 11:42 am:
Good on McCann.
Raunerites in the 99th purposely hurt Illinois.
Ok, you want that Raunerite money and won’t disavow Rauner… with HB40, “sanctuary state”, $16 billion debt…
Again, good on McCann.
- Perrid - Tuesday, Oct 23, 18 @ 11:45 am:
McCann’s whole race is deceptive, IMO, a Trojan horse. McCann/the Conservative Party isn’t running in any of those races, to my knowledge, so there’s no reason for him to be running these mailers, except that the union backing him wants these GOPers to lose. And Sam goes along just for spite. I’m fairly liberal on just about every issue, but it annoys me to have McCann out there lying to everyone, pretending like he evens wants to win when all he wants to do is tighten the screws on Bruce. We should aspire to be above these incredibly petty, selfish, deceptive games.
Okay, I’m off of my naive soapbox now.

” good newspaper writing ” for sure
Giuliani does good
- Moby - Tuesday, Oct 23, 18 @ 11:54 am:
At the risk of offending the adultery crowd, maybe McCann should do an ad showing Rauner and Parkhurst getting married.

If you walk like a duck, talk like a duck, and swim like a duck, you are a duck. If you take the money from Rauner, and don’t disavow his signing of those bills, you are a Raunerite. Exactly right.
- Rusty Bridges - Tuesday, Oct 23, 18 @ 12:18 pm:
So sick of the hypocrisy of Jeanne Ives and the other whiners. Obviously Rauner’s not that bad if your candidates gorge on his cash.
- Matts - Tuesday, Oct 23, 18 @ 12:27 pm:
I’ve thought from the beginning McCann’s first and foremost reason for joining the fray is to help beat Rauner- anything he could get beyond that would be gravy.

===McCann’s whole race is deceptive, IMO, a Trojan horse.===
Many of us here think that McCann is in it to teach a lesson to Rauner, and he doesn’t care much who helps him do it. If there weren’t much of a constituency for this idea, there wouldn’t be much of a candidacy either.

=== McCann just wants to tighten the screws on Rauner ===
It’s called payback after the vicious campaign Rauner funded against McCann.
- Bobby Hicks - Tuesday, Oct 23, 18 @ 2:08 pm:
So what if he is just running to try to help beat the fool governor. Bruce backed a candidate to try to beat Sam in a primary re-election 2 years ago. What’s good for the goose….

McCann. What to say about this guy. He is sure making a bed for himself. I think the karma is going to come so hard, so fast, that people should just start keeping their distance right about now.
- Tmac1991 - Tuesday, Oct 23, 18 @ 2:55 pm:
Let’s talk about ur funding from the union, Rep. Ives. Were u a plant during the primary? No! Either is McCann. How about declaring u r not voting for Rauner?

I thought the karma was comin’ round to Rauner, who went apey over one meaningless McCann vote on an arbitration bill that already had a super-majority in the Senate, but failed in the House.
Check the record. McCann voted the Rauner Way nearly 100% of the time.
