Linking to the main page of the General Assembly’s website when they’re not in session? So helpful, Bob!

  3. - Dozer - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:25 pm:

    of late @chiPartyAunt has been killing it…please, please, please pollsters include her in City of Chicago Mayoral polling. Prediction:she’s polling better than Bill Daley

  4. - Driving a car - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:25 pm:

    As far as IL politics twitter goes Zach Koustky has a good one.

  5. - Les Nessman - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:28 pm:

    @chicagobars its an informative and entertaining follow.

  6. - Galena Guy - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:28 pm:

    Seth Abramson, Karoli, & Digby for political coverage, ASL Deafined & Merriam Webster cuz it’s good to learn something every day, and Effin’ Birds because they reflect my attitude almost all the time.

  7. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:29 pm:

    @MisterJayEm

    No matter your political bend, you gotta check it out. Good stuff.

  8. - lake county democrat - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:29 pm:

    Jeff Greenfield - as insightful as ever @greenfield64

    Super 70’s Sports - just trust me on this one
    @Super70sSports

  9. - wordslinger - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:30 pm:

    Chicago Party Aunt for its wickedly funny, politically incorrect commentary on the local scene, from the viewpoint of the kind of lady most of us probably know at least one of.

    She had me at “I’m a snorting coke at Ravinia kinda babe.”

    Radical Candor IL hits pretty good, too, when they’re active.

  10. - Galena Guy - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:31 pm:

    And, as others have noted, Chicago Party Aunt & Chicago Bars, along with Chicago Reader. And OF COURSE Capitol Fax!

  11. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:34 pm:

    @ChicagoBars is one you should check out. Active, and whimsical, while also being really informative.

    Reporter twitters, not Papers or tv station twitters are good to check out. The outlets aren’t as detailed as reporters.

  12. - wordslinger - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:37 pm:

    Oops, premature sendalation (it happens).

    MisterJayEM is tops. I’m convinced twitter expanded to 280 just so some could try to communicate what MisterJayEm does in 140.

  13. - LakeviewJ - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:43 pm:

    Adrienne Alexander for her helpful threads about a wide array of political and social topics.

    Amanda Kass for the best insights on government finance.

  14. - McGuppin - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:44 pm:

    I don’t use Twitter, so I don’t know. But….damn that’s a funny post. Thanks, Rich, for the mid-week chuckle.

  15. - Ron Burgundy - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:47 pm:

    Follow What the Illinois General Assembly is Working On Now: Self-Preservation

  16. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:53 pm:

    @ILElectionData is one that is really solid to check out…

  17. - Three Dimensional Checkers - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 1:57 pm:

    The old @SpeakerMadigan account is dearly. dearly missed.

  18. - Chicago Bars - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 2:00 pm:

    Thanks all. Very kind. Beers (at undisclosed location) on me some day.

    @ILelectiondata and @ILsunshine are endless sources of political contribution gold.

  19. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 2:01 pm:

    I miss Da Speaker.

  20. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 2:10 pm:

    @anacaprana - the Anne Caprara twitter is still comedy gold.

    It only gets better with the Eagles playing. Good mix of politics and other, well balanced snarky fun.

  21. - DHS Jim - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 2:33 pm:

    Cry For Byzantium, the history of the Byzantine Empire in tweets from 280 - 1453.

  22. - Lefty Lefty - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 2:39 pm:

    @ChicagoBars for sure. @RadicalCandorIL too. And @MerriamWebster.

    The Illinois staff @ProPublicaIL is great.

    @ArchPundit is excellent.

    @NateSilver538 for polling.

    @darth for puppy pics and humor.

    @PopeHat for legal analysis, snarky and informed.

    Lots of reporters, bands, and venues. I won’t bore you with those unless you ask.

  23. - Harvest76 - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 3:13 pm:

    @thetweetofgod

    Tongue in cheek reminder of why self described Christian conservatives are often neither.

  24. - oneholeoff - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 3:25 pm:

    Started following @MrJayEm because of posts on here and have never regretted it.

  25. - WSJ Paywall - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 3:30 pm:

    Adrienne Alexander/@DriXander’s twitter is my favorite on the website, honestly. Always very informative. It’s what I aspire for mine to be.

  26. - Cheswick - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 3:44 pm:

    I started following Mr.JM for the band commentary and photos, and stayed for the politics.

  27. - dbk - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 3:58 pm:

    Tina Sfondeles’ “Men Following Construction Projects” series is pretty lit.

    I follow her, Dusty Rhodes, and Amanda Vinicky. Plus @capitolfax, of course. Plus a few more IL reporters. All good.

  28. - Wensicia - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 5:17 pm:

    I like Mike Luckovich, best political cartoons anywhere. Various opinion columnists. The Tweet of God. And MrJM.

  29. - Chicago Cynic - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 5:52 pm:

    Love me some @RadicalCandor. I may not like it next year but for now, it’s tasty goodness.

  30. - theCardinal - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 6:18 pm:

    No time for Twiitering But have seen a few good ones from mrjm and that richmiller guy

  31. - DriXander - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 7:12 pm:

    Thanks for the mentions, y’all.

    A few of my own faves:
    @hannahmeisel for the day to day state stuff
    @ILElectionData to follow the money & know the numbers
    @JohnAmdor for his throwback floor transcripts
    @bylaurenfitz on CPS
    @thedailylinechi for deets on City/County stuff

  32. - DriXander - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 7:16 pm:

    And @IllinoisWorking ’cause nothing Rauner-related gets by him.

  33. - Gooner - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 8:56 pm:

    Unfortunately, @CWBChicago is required reading. Always good to know about crime in the area.

    @DaveClarkin tends to be pretty good. Dave has always had an interesting way of phrasing his opinions.

    @retrievans is bizarre and entertaining. It is a series of photos with a Golden Retriever in the same pose as actor Chris Evans.

    @atlasobscura has some really interesting geography and travel pieces.

    @captandrewluck has the Colts QB writing as if he was in the Civil War. Very entertaining.

    Finally, @SueTheTRex is the official twitter of Sue, from the Field Museum. It is a very funny take on dinosaurs. The “war” with the Shedd was classic.

  34. - Gooner - Wednesday, Oct 24, 18 @ 9:05 pm:

    By the way, I may the only one here who can’t stand @ChicagoPartyAunt. I find it grating, and unoriginal. I’ve unfollowed a few who constantly re-tweet her stuff.
