Today, the Rauner campaign is launching a new digital video titled “Bruce and Diana on Education.”
Governor Rauner signed into law historic education funding reform, providing a more equitable funding formula for all Illinois schools and creating the first ever scholarship tax credit program in the state.
Governor Rauner and First Lady Diana Rauner have been committed to improving education in Illinois for years. They have been strong advocates for providing more access to quality schools for all students in the state.
Governor Rauner: Education is the most important thing we do together as a community and education is a shared passion Diana and I have had for our whole lives.
Diana Rauner: We’re both very lucky because we have had great opportunities in education. We’ve lived the American Dream. But I think our commitment to education, it’s really rooted in a real strong sense of what it’s meant for us to have those opportunities, and how important it is that everyone has the opportunity to reach their potential.
Governor Rauner: Frankly that’s one of the reasons I ran for governor. One of the greatest achievements of our administration has been coming up with a new school funding formula.
Diana Rauner: The education funding formula is something that was broken. Bruce came in and created a bipartisan commission to tackle that problem. He really took it on and that takes a certain level of courage and intentionality I’m just very proud of.
“The education funding formula is something that was broken. Bruce came in and got his clock just absolutely cleaned by Andy Manar, to the extent that Bruce was exposed for not even knowing how many votes it takes to override his veto, and, well, here we are, 20 points down and looking at new houses in Italy.”
Whoever makes his commercials seems to love showing Rauner posing for pictures with children and others. (Maybe he can fool the kids with a smile or he reminds them of their dodderin’ grandfather.)
Diana Rauner is *still* the lone person vouching for Bruce Rauner.
Diana Rauner’s uber-left, costal, limousine liberal social agenda is who Bruce and Diana Rauner are.
Bruce Rauner signed HB40 for Diana Rauner’s brand, and further, kept others out of the loop of the signing, orchestrating the whole thing, as Diana Rauner has done throughout this Administration.
Let’s remember, Diana Rauner stated the closing of social service agencies were “business decisions”, supporting Bruce when Illinois had no budget for a whole General Assembly.
As The Ounce was owed $7 million from Bruce’s Administration, it was JB Pritzker, and the Pritzker family foundations that bailed out The Ounce with $5 million, and both The Ounce and Diana Rauner praised the Pritzker family, including JB Pritzker, as Diana Rauner’s personal money is tearing away the persona of JB Pritzker, the man who helped save The Ounce when Bruce was starving the beast.
When it mattered, Bruce Rauner lied to Blase Cardinal Cupich, So Diana Rauner could save face.
It’s Diana Rauner’s brand that is the concern, not Bruce’s re-election hopes.
If you’re a Republican, especially a conservative… this video is important.
Bruce and Diana Rauner are Raunerites.
They are NOT Republicans.
Understand who the Rauners are. This will continue to hurt the Rauners.
What?? I just…I can’t even. Or have I woken up in a different dimension where Rauner didn’t veto that bill and try to starve state universities to boot?
For a guy who is so prone to deny any responsibility for things that he and his administration are responsible for, like the deaths at Quincy, the $10 billion backlog of unpaid bills, etc., It is remarkable how he claims responsibility for things that he wasn’t responsible for, like the school funding bill.
We need to let Eastern Illinois University, SIUC, Univ. of Il., and the rest of the colleges know the Rauners have your back, and always have. All those layoffs, and canceled classes, were someone else’s fault. “Pathetic”
===We’re both very lucky because we have had great opportunities in education.===
Bruce and Diana Rauner clouted their denied, Winnetka-living daughter into Payton Prep, denying a worthy Chicago child an opportunity so their denied Winnetka living daughter could get ahead of them.
That’s who Bruce and Diana Rauner are… if you want to talk about… “We’re both very lucky because we have had great opportunities in education. ”
Bruce Rauner wears a pristine U of I hat in this “baloney”…
How has UIUC fared under a Rauner Administration?
===The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is citing Springfield’s long budget stalemate as a culprit in its fall on the latest U.S. News & World Report ranking of U.S. colleges and universities. The downstate campus dropped to 52nd from a tie for 44th.
While Illinois went for more than two years without a budget, public universities like the U of I confronted smaller and less-reliable state funding, and many out-of-state students gave second thoughts to applying.
“Given the financial challenges facing higher education over the past 25 months, our focus has been on protecting our students’ Illinois experience and ensuring their success,” Urbana-Champaign Chancellor Robert Jones said in a statement. “We are proud that despite the state budget crisis, our graduation rate, freshman retention rate, admitted student quality and reputation among peers and high school counselors all held steady or improved. Our class sizes crept up, but only slightly.”===
There’s little in the video that points to either Rauners’ commitment to education or how either has been a champion of any part of education in Illinois since Bruce took the oath, or when they clouted their denied Winnetka living daughter into a CPS school over a worthy child.
Yeah, I guess it was probably done with intentionality. Can I have a list of his actions done with intentionality vs. things he’s done with unintentionality? That’s something I’d like to know more about.
If you listen carefully she doesn’t give him credit for solving the problem — he gives himself credit for that, and then she gives him credit for trying to do something about it. Subtle but telling because nobody who was actually involved in the effort gives him credit for any of it, while the Ounce signed on to coalition letters with the proponents all the way through.
All the necessary stuff has been said, but honestly. Who worked on the EBF Ed bill for years and years? Who issued an AV and then refused to sign it unless it included a tax credit scholarship amendment (which those who had labored on SB 1 never envisioned)?
Who cut funding for higher ed in the state, esp. the peripheral state schools?
Who donated the Special Collections library to Dartmouth, which last I checked isn’t in Illinois?
The I’m a republican and I’m a democrat likeability ad they did during the first campaign may have moved the needle for some folks then, but now the phoniness shows thru as Illinois higher ed knows, but I’m sure it does well with the north shore dinner party circuit.
Today the Di says they grew up living the American dream. Last week she said GovJunk grew up in Looney Tunes Land. Which was it?
What’s next a video of them stikin’ pins in their Madigan doll
I’m most interested in what comes out of the Grand Jury in St. Clair County. With all the hyperbole going back and forth, this is the first sign that someone could be in trouble. That someone might be the guy who says he is fighting corruption.
I’m so confused about why the Rauner campaign, which needs the base to come out and support Rauner, would bring Diana out as a reminder of Rauner’s HB40 vote.

A few things come to mind…
One of my favorite quotes: She gave him a look “you could pour on a waffle.”
A question: Why does he get the waffle syrup look from here when talks, but he doesn’t give her reciprocal syrup when she talks?
One more question: Has Andy Manar seen this yet? Sheesh. #noshame

And the Governor’s face every time they cut to him and Diana when he’s not talking tells you everything you need to know about the state of the race.

“Intentionality”? Gotta be a first for a political ad. They must have shot this in one take.
And, associating Bruce with the word “courage” is also very amusing when his actions show him to be a bully/coward.
