When you don’t have a platform that helps regular Illinoisans, you resort to fear-mongering. It has worked well for republicans at the national level.

There is a certain national politician who loves the poorly-educated. He wasn’t talking about their lack of formal schooling; he was referencing their unwillingness and/or inability to think for themselves.

  2. - 47th Ward - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:23 am:

Where on Eola? Somebody needs to go out with a marker and add the “ic” on Democrat.

No ideas from Republicans, but lots of insults.

  3. - TaylorvilleTornado - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:23 am:

Surprised they didn’t throw a hammer and sickle on there.

  4. - Oswego Willy - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:23 am:

Bailing on Bruce Rauner, just using Madigan?

    That’s fun.

If it was me, i woulda used JB’s colors, but let’s make sure we get the signs out, not what could help make them better.

  5. - Texas Red - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:24 am:

    Don’t steal yard signs.

  6. - Honeybadger - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:25 am:

Democrats are starting to give the Republicans fits in the western suburbs and it shows in their fear mongering.

  7. - Give Me A Break - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:26 am:

If JB wins, session is going to be hoot for Durkin and Brady, Rauner will be gone along with his money propping up the GOP members who are left. You know those members who have stood on the chamber floors railing against the Dems and Madigan. It going to be a long, long, really long session for the angry GOP gang who can’t shoot straight.

  8. - Hamlet's Ghost - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:31 am:

DuPage Dems should print signs that read

    HELP STERIGENICS - VOTE REPUBLICAN

  9. - NeverPoliticallyCorrect - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:33 am:

Most of the political advertising in America is based on fear so let’s please just accept this sign as falling in line with other political PR.

  10. - Gooner - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:35 am:

Great to see Republic running an issues based campaign.

  11. - Sign Guy - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:35 am:

Hey, @TexasRed don’t post signs on public right of ways…

  12. - DuPage Dave - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:37 am:

Eola Road hasn’t been the same since they tore down the Rickety Bridge.

  13. - Texas Red - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:40 am:

Most of these signs (GOP&Dem) are printed by union sign shops - so there is that.

  14. - siualum - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:42 am:

I’d steal one of those just to have it as a souvenir!!

  15. - Anon-I-Guess - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:46 am:

From the brain trust that brought you Stroger/(Instert Dem Name) in 2010.

  16. - Moby - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:49 am:

== Most of the political advertising in America is based on fear so let’s please just accept this sign as falling in line with other political PR. ==

    Not yard signs

  17. - PublicServant - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:53 am:

    My sign:

Make America America Again. Vote Democratic.

  18. - Henry Francis - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 10:56 am:

I know it may be inconceivable to some, but there will be day when Michael J. Madigan is no longer in the state house. What is the ILGOP going to run on then? What will be their purpose?

  19. - OneMan - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 11:02 am:

== Eola Road hasn’t been the same since they tore down the Rickety Bridge.==

Where was the rickety bridge… I remember it still being a grade crossing in Eola and being able to drive into Fermi, but I don’t remember the rickety bridge.

    Genuinely curious.

  20. - Truthseeker - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 11:07 am:

As goofy as this sign is . . . .it is impossible to overstate how effective these would be Downstate. Gold. The sight of a Dem candidate stumbling all over his/her answer to who will you vote for as Speaker is staggeringly consistent. . . . . . .landing somewhere between a nervous tick and a stutter . . . .

  21. - Fax Machine - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 11:40 am:

Dan Proft is attacking Rob Martwick for being pro-Madigan.

Honestly they would get more bang for their buck in that district by attacking him for endorsing Toni Preckwinkle for whom there is palpable disgust rather than Mike Madigan who doesn’t really move the needle.

  22. - JS Mill - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 12:06 pm:

Don’t Vote Republican Because We Give Up.

The political version of the white flag trade?

  23. - Anonymous - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 12:27 pm:

    =this is effective doenstate=
Those rubes will fall for anything.

  24. - Truthseeker - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 12:37 pm:

Calling Downstaters “rubes” while misspelling Downstaters and doing it anonymously is priceless.

  25. - All the truth - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 12:56 pm:

I find it ironic that in the battle of signs the sign on Roskam that he received 32k from NRA does not go on to say …over 14 years.
Well at least one party tells All the truth.

  26. - DeseDemDose - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 1:06 pm:

I think I saw that sign stuck on the MAGA bombers van.

  27. - Bobby Hicks - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 1:19 pm:

Hope it doesn’t backfire….. Some folks aren’t the brightest.

  28. - SSL - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 1:31 pm:

Maybe they mean it. After all Mike’s done for Illinois, isn’t it time we all try to help the poor little fella?

  29. - DuPage Bard - Friday, Oct 26, 18 @ 1:46 pm:

If the party has communicated effectively then this is just trolling. But if the actual candidates are in real trouble this doesn’t change a vote. If this is the final means of communication while your down in the polls then your doing it wrong.
If it’s just to troll Democrats then well done.
