* I haven’t received anything yet from the Republicans in these two races, but here’s Lauren Underwood…
* Script…
This is our community. We work every day to make it better for our children.
Our representative in Washington pledged to protect our health care, then voted to sabotage it. He told us he would stand up for our families, then he championed a tax break for the rich.
We were disappointed and we were emboldened. This is our community and our representative is not working for us.
Casten: “I’m Sean Casten, and I’ve spent my career building businesses that will leave a safer, cleaner planet to our children. But when Donald Trump was elected, I knew I had to do more.”
Narrator: “After 25 years, Peter Roskam can’t run on his record. He’s lost touch with the people who sent him to Washington.”
Casten: “In Congress, I’ll make decisions based on facts, not partisan politics. I’ll work with Republicans and Democrats to tackle our problems and I’ll be an independent check on Donald Trump.”
Wonder if Sean will be an independent check on the lowest unemployment rate in about 50 years, 250K jobs added in October and a 3% wage gain. And, maybe that trade deal with Canada and Mexico.
He’s not like overly well loved in that district and with likely depressed turnout for the top of ticket races he’s not a guy to bring people to the polls.
Plus to Wordslinger’s point he’s not really one to take a threat like this too seriously - heard him on radio the other day talking about how Underwood lives with her parents that’ll motivate turnout. Her ad’s not geat feels a little generic but he’s got cause to be VERY concerned.
Ads begin well with positive messaging, but in the middle of their ads they both transform into the typical “dark money” attack ad that seems out of place, then revert back to positive images. Just doesn’t work.
At least Underwood ad stays with positive images/tone throughout.
I’m Brendan Kelly, and I am going to fight like hell, while maintaining this very monotone and reassuring voice. That just doesn’t play well to the billy’s in the hills.

You’re comfortable making that slur, Saluki?
Let’s put that on ice, and bring it out again when you revert to your usual Regional Weepin’ Victim

No worries for Hultgren.
On his campaign website, if you ever choose to find it, he has a :43 you tube video in which he talks straight into the camera.
And on its “News” link, the latest item is a Sept. 19 appearance at the Northwest Herald Editorial board.
Who can top that in a close race?

Horrible ads for Casten and Kelly.

Sean Casten’s ad is a great closer.

The Casten ad is too choppy. It gets a D at best.
