When did this become a thing?
Friday, Nov 2, 2018 - Posted by Rich Miller * From last weekend…
* I told subscribers about these signs earlier today…
* From a story in the Patch… ![]() It’s better than defacing the signs or stealing them (except for the Nazi). I just don’t remember this ever being a thing before.

Is it a thing, or a viral Twitter thing?

Depends on where they’re at. If they’re in right-of-ways vacant lots, go right ahead. But I wouldn’t like this being put in people’s yards.

The Roskam “add on” signs might help in some of the towns he represents.

Indeed preferable to taking signs, just don’t trespass to get cute. If I have a sign in my yard, don’t try putting yours next to mine or I’m well within my rights to take it down.

When people are allowed to leave comments on political blog posts, this sort of thing of is bound to follow.

TexasRed — I don’t think you’ve spent a lot of time in that district lately.

I love it.

I saw similar signs down state tying folks to Madigan back in 2014 and 2016.

It’s a reflection of the visuals on TV and other online media sources.

Like spraypaing “Do you know who I am?” on Randy Ramey signs.
- Just Me - Friday, Nov 2, 18 @ 11:07 am:
It is a new thing, but so is the demagoguery of “the other side” combined with the personalization of political beliefs.

I think Art Jones might be okay with the “he’s a Nazi” accompanying sign.
- Grand Avenue - Friday, Nov 2, 18 @ 11:38 am:
I think I first remember seeing them in the 2016 primary when Omar Aquino put out signs at the polling place tying his primary rival to Bruce Rauner.

The “Roskum Opposes Gun Reform” sign. That’s why those geese in the upper center left of the picture are leaving Illinois.
- Backbencher - Friday, Nov 2, 18 @ 12:04 pm:
I remember seeing homemade signs that said “gives me gas” appearing next to Melissa Bean signs in 2010.
- Rusty Bridges - Friday, Nov 2, 18 @ 12:13 pm:
Don’t know why people are assuming Art Jones didn’t put up both those signs.
- Unreliable Sources - Friday, Nov 2, 18 @ 12:24 pm:
Dave Severin did this two years ago… putting out signs linking John Bradley to Madigan.
The Costello - Freese race has more snarky signs than actual pro-candidate signs.

The Art Jones Nazi sign is a classic.
