* I wrote myself into a wall on three straight blog posts, so I got nothing right now. Hopefully, I can finish one or two of them soon. In the meantime, please be kind to each other and keep it Illinois-centric.

Who’s going to win the Braggin’ Rights game this Saturday?

  2. - Blue Dog Dem - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:01 pm:

My yard is so soggy i cant even walk on it. Looks like instead of a white Christmas, folks coming to the old Blue homestead will get to look at a sea of pin oak leaves.

  3. - baseball nut - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:02 pm:

    $250 for Inaugural Ball tickets

That’s strike 1 and not even up to bat yet.

  4. - Gohawks123 - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:08 pm:

So the Sox? Can they get Harper or Machado?!?

  5. - Dirty Red - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:08 pm:

= That’s strike 1 and not even up to bat yet. =

    Give it a rest, Kristen.

  6. - Honeybear - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:08 pm:

So has anyone heard about the Pritzker crew interviewing for senior agency staff at any agencies? I friend said that Rauner had started interviewing and lining up staff right after Thanksgiving. Not saying JB is behind but just wondering what people have heard.

  7. - Honeybear - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:10 pm:

Aren’t Pin Oaks the ones that keep their leaves? I thought I had a pin oak in the back. Maybe I’m wrong about what I’ve got.

  8. - Fixer - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:11 pm:

Looking at weather bug, my area has a 40% chance of “frozen mix” on Christmas. Maybe some hope for a white Christmas.

  9. - Blue Dog Dem - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:14 pm:

Pin oaks keep their leaves for a long time. Mine seemed to all fall in a two day period about two weeks ago. Neighbors’ is falling this week. I have had them fall on Christmas day and mid january.

  10. - Blue Dog Dem - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:16 pm:

On a sad note. I am happy for the Oreo workers in Mexico who just got a 60% bump in their min wage. $5/ day now.

  11. - Grandson of Man - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:16 pm:

It was so enjoyable to watch the Bears beat the Packers and win the NFC North.

  12. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:25 pm:

Tarik Cohen might be the best 5′6″ running back ever out of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.

Really amazed that he’s been able to be this productive and stay on the field with those big boys.

  13. - Amalia - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:31 pm:

beautiful sunny day in Chicagoland. feels more like spring. surely that means we will get hit with snow in a few days, right?

  14. - revvedup - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:38 pm:

Rich, step outside for a short walk in the crisp late fall air. The sunlight helps also.

  15. - Skeptic - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 2:47 pm:

“Aren’t Pin Oaks the ones that keep their leaves?” I know shingle oaks will keep their leaves until spring. I don’t think pin oaks keep theirs quite as long, but longer than red or white oaks.

  16. - Honeybear - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 3:04 pm:

Okay, so I’m not the brightest. I just googled it. I definitely have a pin oak and not a shingle oak. But, I think mine holds them a long while as it is right next to the lake. That’s my story anyway.

  17. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 3:11 pm:

Illini by 7 in the Braggin Rights game

  18. - A guy - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 3:12 pm:

Well, I know more about oaks than I used to. I just can’t think of anyone to tell about it. lol

  19. - Cheryl44 - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 3:36 pm:

No one cared about snow at Christmas until Irving Berlin wrote that song.

  20. - ETown60120 - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 5:08 pm:

    We need snow for Xmas

  21. - PublicServant - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 5:19 pm:

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it. Happy holidays to all others. Enjoy your family. Be happy. That’s pretty much it, guys. Hope to engage on the flip side. Until then. Peace.

  22. - Yoho - Tuesday, Dec 18, 18 @ 5:23 pm:

Not all are built to wear short tight dresses. But all are built to wear Spanx.

  23. - Blue Dog Dem - Wednesday, Dec 19, 18 @ 3:24 am:

I am somewhat of a rare bird. I love both the Blackhawks and Blues. What a yucky year it’s been.

  24. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Dec 19, 18 @ 6:32 am:

So anyone know if the Pritzker campaign has been served yet?

  25. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Dec 19, 18 @ 6:36 am:

So I read Kristen McQueary’s op ed yesterday. What a piece of work. Should we start a Go Fund Me for her to rent a U Haul?
