Unclear on the concept

* Um, you’re attending a press conference and you won’t take questions? Try again…
* From the media advisory…
Crime survivors from across Illinois will join at the Capitol to call for a new safety agenda at the first ever Survivors Speak Illinois, an event hosted by Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice. They will co-host a press conference and vigil with Deputy House Majority Leader Jehan Gordon-Booth (D-Peoria), and be joined by Attorney General Kwame Raoul and Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx.

I am continuously surprised by her lack of political acumen throughout this whole saga.
- Powdered Whig - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 10:57 am:
Ok… so who is going to challenge her next March?
- Tony Kendall - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:00 am:
That, um, is not how you do a press conference.
- Jocko - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:00 am:
==an event hosted by Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice==
I don’t think Anjanette Albert (Derrion’s mother) will be in attendance.
- Annonin' - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:01 am:
A press conference with no questions should take less times
- MakePoliticsCoolAgain - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:03 am:
Wow… she and her staff has been a disaster from the beginning, but State’s Attorney Foxx still decides to grace Springfield with her presence today - just make sure no questions about the futility of her office are asked. Thanks (exclamation point).
- wordslinger - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:04 am:
Ridiculous. She brought the heat on herself. And if you can’t stand the heat….
- Anonymous - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:13 am:
Good thing Toni Preckwinkle is stronger than ever and will be able to drag her over the finish line again next year…oh wait.
- Amalia - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:13 am:
all you need to know about her comes from that cell phone video from her former First Assistant (the former Fed she touted) sent from what looks like his vacation and which was critical of her. When someone you hired from the outside not only leaves you but gets on the phone from vacay to say you are wrong about a matter months later, it’s time for you to plan another life.
- Flynn's Mom - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:15 am:
Maybe that’s a new Cook County policy. I’m guessing Preckwinkle may adopt the no talk press conference too.
- Whatever - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:15 am:
“Her office says she’s not taking questions on Jussie Smollett.”
What she really meant.
- Paddyrollingstone - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:30 am:
Reminds me of the great MASH episode regarding the 4077th trying to get an incubator. Hawkeye and Trapper crash a general’s press conference and the reporters start asking why the hospital can’t get an incubator. The general gets frustrated and says, “This is a press conference! The last thing I want to do is answer questions!”
Kudos to Kim Foxx for being almost as funny.
- Wensicia - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:32 am:
I guess that’s her position for the rest of her tenure, unless she has Jesse Jackson Sr. or Bobby Rush standing by her side and speaking for her.
- PublicServant - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:34 am:
===“Her office says she’s not taking questions on Jussie Smollett.”===
Is she taking questions on what she plans to do after loding the next election?
- XDNR - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:38 am:
Jussie Smollett will be there speaking about how to survive the trauma of a self inflicted crime with Kim Foxx at his side.
- Almost the weekend - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:44 am:
If I’m Kwame do I really want to affiliate myself with Kim Foxx for an event like this? The purpose of this event goes right out the window and media will focus on Foxx’s lack of leadership or in competency.
- A guy - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:46 am:
Excellent reporter Tina got it wrong.
They’re having a Conference. Not a press conference. Easy mistake anyone coulda made.
Kim. /s
- Colin O'Scopy - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:46 am:
Meeting with crime survivors? She should meet with every citizen of Chicago who was victimized by the Jussie Smollett scandal.
- Responsa - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 11:48 am:
Kim should just hunker down in her office and try to oversee the job she was elected to do. She has failed miserably in all her public appearances post-Smollett.
- d. p. gumby - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 12:17 pm:
Special Guest Jussie Smollet will be giving autographs, but not taking questions either.
- Rutro - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 1:07 pm:
What baffles me is that playing the race card only prolongs the agony. Nobody cares about Jussie not going to jail, they just don’t believe her story of how/why it was dismissed. Just like no one believed him. Come clean admit, admit complete incompetence/arrogance (ten different way) or we will continue to assume phone calls were made. No questions, how long do you think that will last.
- Boomer - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 1:34 pm:
Andrea Zopp should challenge her. would take the race card away and put someone incredibly competent and qualified in the office
- Amalia - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 2:03 pm:
Boomer has a good idea. Zopp was well liked when she served multiple positions in that office after coming in with O’Malley.
- Fuel For the Fire - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 2:03 pm:
Blago did that all the time after he was arrested.
- James - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 2:45 pm:
Wouldn’t be surprised to see Jerry Joyce file, still a young man. Good way to stay employed in public service and be in the news periodically, waiting for the opportunity to move to the Fifth Floor. Richard M. Daley beat Ed Burke in a 1980 primary for States Attorney and ran for Mayor twice from that position of strength, winning in 1989. LL believes in a 2-term limit, meaning the Mayor’s office opens up for sure in 2027.
- Shytown - Thursday, Apr 11, 19 @ 4:19 pm:
Foxx is a huge disappointment. The tone deafness is stunning.
- Anonymous - Friday, Apr 12, 19 @ 7:05 am:
No surprise given she has absolutely no answers. BTW, rahm did dozens of press conferences at which he took no questions. Politicians who can’t answer for their actions shouldn’t hold elected office.
