My suggestion is for members of the media to stake out some of the local watering holes.

Here’s what really made my eyes pop out of my head in that Sun-Times story:
== As for Doherty, he acknowledged he does derive a “small percentage” from “every ticket that’s paid” in certain communities enlisting SafeSpeed ==
Wow. That’s one hell of a commission and I don’t imagine it’s publicly detailed in the contracts these municipalities enter into. Lots of opportunities for shenanigans when that kind of cash is changing hands.

Did he flip?
Maybe?
- @misterjayem - Thursday, Oct 3, 19 @ 2:02 pm:
Tobolski’s out looking for the *real* crooked politicians.

To soon to flip. My guess is that he is safely tucked away in his fabulous home.

===To soon to flip===
You think these raids were put together in a day or two?
For all we know he went in *to* flip.
This is crazy stuff we’re seeing.

McCook has a population (residential) of 228. The mayor shouldn’t be hard to find. They only have a couple of taverns and they are pretty small (in case someone wanted to stake them out).
It is mostly a business address with lots of trucking and warehouses. Lots of teamsters in the area.

Has anyone seen Sandoval? I thought he was out of sight too

The over use of ‘he’ is confusing. I have to assume Maani is the one that gets the commission, not Tobolski or Doherty, right?

Maybe he wanted to get away before he goes away.

== As for Doherty, he acknowledged he does derive a “small percentage” from “every ticket that’s paid” in certain communities enlisting SafeSpeed == A small percentage of every red light ticket has to be a tremendous amount of money. Shouldn’t that money go to the towns that have these red light cameras?

By my reading, I actually think Doherty is a consultant for the company and gets a small commission for each ticket that’s paid.

From the article:
“Summit has a contract with Safespeed, records show. One of the company’s paid consultants, Patrick Doherty, is also chief of staff for Cook County Commissioner Jeff Tobolski, who doubles as McCook’s mayor. Neither could be reached for comment Wednesday.”

My goodness, he’s making 6 figures as Tobolski’s Chief of Staff and he is a paid consultant for Safespeed. I can’t believe he talked to the Sun-Times.
