  7. - SpfdNewb - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 3:03 pm:

    Two captions.

    1. I didn’t know the Senator was a Parrothead.

  18. - Rutro - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 3:17 pm:

His hands look like he playing an accordion, his hat looks like its from Dick Tracy, and his shirt may possibly be the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen.

  19. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 3:17 pm:

    Ridin’ down the highway
    Goin’ to “a show”
    Stop in all the byways
    Playin’ for a role
    Whipin’ votes
    Gettin’ stoned
    Gettin’ beat up
    Broken boned

    Gettin’ close
    Gettin’ near
    I tell you folks
    It’s harder than it appears

It’s a long way to the top
    If you wanna Prez’s role

It’s a long way to the top
    If you wanna Prez’s role

If you think it’s easy doin’ head counting
Try keepin’ peace without being too mean
It’s a long way to the top
    If you wanna Prez’s role

    Hotel, motel
    Make you wanna cry
    Members try the hard sell
    Know the reason why

    Gettin’ old
    Gettin’ gray
    Gettin’ ripped off
    Underpaid
    Gettin’ bold
    Second-hand
    That’s how it goes
    Makin’ them try to understand

It’s a long way to the top
    If you wanna Prez’s role

It’s a long way to the top
    If you wanna Prez’s role

If you wanna be a be a star of the winning team
Look out it’s rough and mean

It’s a long way to the top
    If you wanna Prez’s role
It’s a long way to the top
    If you wanna Prez’s role
It’s a long way to the top
    If you wanna Prez’s role
It’s a long way to the top
    If you wanna Prez’s role…

  24. - Stones - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 3:32 pm:

Not proud to admit that I own that same shirt. Not the yellow fedora however.

“Elvis Costello without Diana Krall at his side”

  26. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 3:39 pm:

Way up in Cook County close to She-Caw-Go
Just down the street among the bungalows
There stood a headquarters made of earth and wood
Where lived a Senate guy named Donny B. Goode
Who never ever learned to read or write so well
But he could play a guitar just like a-ringing a bell

    Go go
    Go Donny go
    Go
    Go Donny go
    Go
    Go Johnny go
    Go
    Go Donny go
    Go
    Donny B. Goode

He used to carry his guitar in a gunny sack
Go sit beneath the tree by the Green Line track
Oh, the engineer would see him sittin’ in the shade
Strummin’ with the rhythm that the drivers made
The people passing by, they would stop and say
“Oh my, but that Oak Park Senate Dem could play”

    Go go
    Go Donny go
    Go
    Go Donny go
    Go
    Go Donny go
    Go
    Go Denny go
    Go
    Donny B. Goode

His friends told him, “The Senate you will go one day,
And you will be the leader and have a say
Many people comin’ from miles around
To hear you play your chamber until the sun go down
Maybe someday your name’ll be in lights
    Sayin’ ‘Donny B. Goode tonight’”

    Go go
    Go Donny go
    Go go go Donny go
    Go go go Donny go
    Go go go Donny go
    Go
    Donny B. Goode

    OW is the best…

I haven’t been to Harmon’s fundraiser at Fitzgerald’s in a couple of years but I remember the first time he had his kid come on stage to play with his group. My guess is the kid is better than the old man by now if he kept at it. He was pretty young but really good.

  37. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 4:08 pm:

    - DIstant watcher -

Thanks, and I think the Boat Drink Caucus has a voice synthesizer somewhere… :)

    “Caption?”

“It’s not mine, it’s too big, and they want a solo coming up? I’m not The Edge, k?”

Maybe he can play a song for Rep. Madigan

  48. - A Guy - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 4:28 pm:

  54. - 37B - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 5:05 pm:

Pretty sure I’ve got got all those wardrobe elements in my closet. Would never wear them all at once though.

Observation: Figures he’s a bass player. Usually (not always) the guys who lay back and, literally, provide the band’s base. Low ego, low histrionics, the adult in the room.

  55. - Rabid - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 5:10 pm:

    X factor

  56. - Huh? - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 5:18 pm:

  58. - Bobby McGee - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 7:45 pm:

Giving his all for the group, holding the caucus together with solid, if unimaginative bass lines.

Plus demonstrating fiscal austerity by using the old acoustic-electric bass for a live gig instead of throwing cash around on a real electric bass.

  59. - Rich Hill - Tuesday, Jan 21, 20 @ 9:29 pm:

The Senate may regret elected Steve Dahl to lead the chamber.
