Yes, the occasional open thread gives us a chance to chat with other regulars and to point out topics for possible discussion, without running afoul of straying off topic in other threads.
Also congrats to the Illini for a nice win in Evanston. NCAAs is now a lock.
You must be loving Bloomberg right now, Rich. I’d love to know how much he paid in advertising on Cap Fax when this is all over. You can whisper it to me.
Absolutely post an open thread two or three times a week. It gives me an opportunity to let you know that Baise’s mailer telling me that Oberweis is JB’s and Madigan’s best friend used one of your Crains’ articles as a footnote.
Sure. The open threads often go straight to sports, which isn’t my jam. But the threads seem to foster IL-centric conversation, and if they give you a bit of a breather to spend more time on developing another story, it seems good.

Yes, please keep the open threads as long as they remain civil. I am not a political junkie like a lot of folks on here. I come through to hopefully gets some perspective from all sides. Honestly, though, like most blogs, there are a handful of know it all posters who like to run over the others and dominate the discussion and it’s getting old. I just don’t understand why people find it necessary to be so condescending. Why are the comments like “try to keep up” necessary. Apologies for the rant. Thanks for the blog, Rich. You do great work.

* A suggested topic: Do you want me to continue posting these open threads?”
If they give you more time to do other things, like just relaxing or slowing down, yes.

Since you’re asking, they’re good, sometimes even fun. It’s like a pre-game warmup. I hope you keep them, especially if you like them too.

Yes. If nothing else (and it is far more than this), it provides a place for commenters to share breaking news.

He’s an advertiser. That’s it. I dislike quite a few of my advertisers. For instance, the anti-legalization goofs advertised last year.

I love it when you can pad retirement savings with money from people you dislike. It really is the American dream…. I do the same thing myself.
