As of today, due to COVID-19 related deaths, the state of IL has lost slightly more citizens than the entire population of the Nashville, Illinois.

No criticism intended in asking, but is anyone aware of IDPH sharing an age breakdown on those deaths? Saying 3,111 deaths in ages ranging “from younger than one to older than 100 years” is not that helpful. An age breakdown similar to the “new case” report would better inform the public about the risk and impact.

JA, check the IDPH website.

In addition to an age breakdown of those deaths, some other states are able to present data regarding how many deaths occurred because of one or more pre-existing conditions. I agree with JA. Saying the 3,111 deaths range from 1 to 100 is very misleading. My unofficial tally is that there have been very few (less than 10 or 15) deaths of individuals under 30.

SJ-R is reporting four more Villas East nursing home residents in Sherman have died from COVID-19:

I don’t know if the Sangamon county death reported by IDPH today was a Villas East resident, and the remaining three will be counted in tomorrow’s stats.

I don’t know if this insistence on knowing age and pre-existing conditions of those who died is wishful thinking (”it can’t happen to me”) or, more ominously, a desire to prove that those deaths aren’t among people who matter.
