*** UPDATED x1 *** Madigan reports huge haul
Tuesday, Jul 28, 2020 - Posted by Rich Miller * This is what you call making a statement in the face of adversity…
That’s the largest single A-1 filed by any candidate committee other than Gov. Pritzker in at least the last four months. The above-mentioned PAC is controlled by both Local 150 of the Operating Engineers and the road construction industry. *** UPDATE *** Add another $362,500 this morning from LiUNA Chicago Laborers District Council.

The 150 must not be too worried about the fed investigation, because I’d be hesitant to donate anything to Madigan at this point. Even if you have nothing to worry about, who wants that scrutiny.
- bluesman2383 - Wednesday, Jul 29, 20 @ 7:18 am:
Pretty sad that that downstate Republicans also get plenty of political donations from this PAC, too. Proof that Madigan touches everything and everyone.

Good old Illinois highway, with money on all sides of the table for our elected officials
- Nagidam - Wednesday, Jul 29, 20 @ 8:24 am:
Well we won’t know until the middle of September whether Local 150 and others are bankrolling the Speakers legal defense or the Speakers candidates. This would be one of the hard questions his caucus members should be asking.

$2,856,700 since 10/1/18?
- Ron Burgundy - Wednesday, Jul 29, 20 @ 8:37 am:
Madigan’s lawyers report large haul.
- Chambananon - Wednesday, Jul 29, 20 @ 8:40 am:
Do we know *when* these donations occurred, considering that reporting is usually lagged somewhat from the date of donation? I’m wondering if these were pre- or post- announcement of the ComEd deferred prosecution agreement.
- Anon y mouse - Wednesday, Jul 29, 20 @ 8:43 am:
Burgundy with the win. That money is going to Madigan’s defense lawyers for the soon-to-be-coming indictment.
- Arock - Wednesday, Jul 29, 20 @ 8:45 am:
Thanks for your corrupt ways that have benefitted us as well. Keep up your corrupt way.

The 3rd highest gas taxes in America didn’t just happen by accident

The Speaker has over $20 mil combined. Considering that his legal costs (including the Hampton settlement) accounted for approx. $2.5 mil going back to 2017, he wild still have plenty of money to support Dems in House races.
- 19th Ward Guy - Wednesday, Jul 29, 20 @ 9:03 am:
A statement of what? That money controls Springfield? Not sure if that’s the statement the feds want to see. Maybe the caucus, but not the G.

“Ok, listen you mugs, it’s time to really kick up to da Boss. We gotta show ar colors, and it better be GREEN. An pleny of it!”
- Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Jul 29, 20 @ 9:32 am:
This was payback for taking down Rauner, and a lotta other things
What is important to remember, hedging this bet, it’s these type of donations also say…
The Feds made a deal with ComEd where $200 mil will be paid, over $200 mil will be waived… and the Feds haven’t indicted (yet) and the Feds *asked* for more information in the ongoing investigation.
Huh?
These type of financial windfalls are betting… betting on the idea the *Feds* are more like “American Hustle” than “The Untouchables”
Again, (sigh), I *think* Madigan should resign. The politics say wait till Madigan is “Arroyoed”…
What we’re seeing here is…
“The Feds have no recordings, right now”
“The Feds don’t have the direct hand… email, link, person saying ‘Madigan said this for that’… and need that connect”
“We need to stop the leftover Raunerites, and Madigan was there and will be there come this November, again”
Let’s see when Madigan can’t get 60 to be Speaker in January.
Madigan sits… at 59… if math is correct… today.

Durkin just took in a quarter mil at the end of last quarter.
- low level - Wednesday, Jul 29, 20 @ 9:43 am:
It begs the question: the direct mail hit pieces write themselves. As soon as a transfer is made to whomever, its Rep X took $Y from Boss Madigan.
Whether or not it will be effective is another question entirely.
Gotta figure there will be more news from Feds as summer goes into fall. Drip, drip, drip.
He has to go.

With respect,
The House and Senate Raunerites are broke.
Trump is at the top of the ticket.
What voter now is going to be swayed by “because Madigan” and the already toxic Madigan brand?
So much is baked in with Madigan, and include Trump, why *not* put some dimes on “22 Green” and members taking that “green” too?
With respect.

To the update;
That’s $917,000.
Whew.

OW- no argument. I agree w all the points you made.
Its just the hit pieces are so obvious. Himself is the one weapon the GOP has. If Himself was replaced by a Herself lr another Himself, the issue would go away.

No. My apologies, bud. As I read it now, hope you didn’t take it as “argumentative”, to the contrary, supportive.
Stay well.
