Did I see Hannah Meisel’s byline in today’s Fax? What’s up with that? Can she cover for you next week?

  2. - Ok - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 9:14 am:

Hannah, please tell me how can I sign up for your newsletter. I have room for one more.

  3. - Small Suspicion RE: CPS - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 9:16 am:

That “lobbyist” alluded to in the CPS article, hopefully, is not the same “lobbyist” who provided Danny Solis with viagra and massages.

I’ve seen him having drinks with P. Soto.

    Windy City

  4. - Frank talks - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 9:18 am:

Sox are 1/2 game back and are top team in Chicago with over a third of season done. Upcoming games vs KC could be a big weekend.

  5. - Anyone Remember - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 9:20 am:

To keep things “polite” I’ll just say Kass’ article today contains an “inaccuracy” when it promotes the “notion” that the only difference between Illinois and Indiana Workers’ Compensation is the price employers pay.

  6. - Rich Miller - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 9:24 am:

    ===What’s up with that?===

    She’s freelancing these days.

  7. - Amalia - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 9:27 am:

weather channel shows hurricane/storm hitting Southern Illinois right now. stay safe people.

The “personal touch” is so important in being an effective lobbyist :)

    As usual.

“Kass’ article today contains an ‘inaccuracy’”

And if that doesn’t shock you, wait until you hear about the gambling in Casablanca.

Cooler days ahead, no AC to use. Take that, Madigan!

  12. - LarryLightsOut - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 10:09 am:

iS Kass still being published thought he was CLOD-cast only

  13. - Dotnonymous - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 10:16 am:

    Kass represents a dying breed.

==weather channel shows hurricane/storm hitting Southern Illinois right now. stay safe people.==

While the northern third of Illinois (mainly north of I-80) is under an Enhanced Risk of severe weather for late afternoon and overnight. All forms of severe are possible. All while areas still recovering from the Aug. 10 derecho.

Slight risk of severe extends from roughly Springfield/I-72 northward.

These storms are unrelated to Hurricane Laura, but instead are a strong cold front that will end this recent heat wave.

Speaking of weather, today is the 30th anniversary of the Aug. 28, 1990 Plainfield F5 tornado. The only F5 to hit Illinois in August so far. Joliet and Crest Hill were also among other areas hit by tornadoes that day.

=I’ll just say Kass’ article today=

    A) It’s instructive to remember that Kass doesn’t write articles, he writes columns

    B) Don’t read Kass

  18. - RNUG - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 10:50 am:

Did you see where WGN-9 is going to relaunch as a 24 hour cable news network in competition with CNN?

  19. - Amalia - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 10:54 am:

so the judge refuses Webb’s request to release the report on the Smollett investigation. who knows what the information could illuminate, whether helping or hurting a candidate, but there is an election looming. Can someone file a lawsuit to get the information?

  20. - DownSouth - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 11:06 am:

Starting to get dark and cloudy here, radar looks not pretty - not thrilled since in the middle of a house foundation redo. On a lighter note - spent the morning canning a variety of tasty relishes! The yellow squash one turned out particularly well so I am happy.

  21. - Scott Cross for President - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 11:06 am:

    I can finally exhale.

After 4 nights, the Republican National Convention is over.

    And no Blago speech.

I figured he’d be front and center bc he checks so many boxes for Trump, but no.

I’m visually Rod out front of his house curbside last night with a rolling suitcase, his head rolling down, his chin hitting his chest, slowing turning around and walking back inside.

  22. - Streator Curmudgeon - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 11:15 am:

    RNUG–

I’ve seen commercials for it on WMBD, the Peoria CBS outlet. I take it this will be a subscription only deal?

  23. - Dotnonymous - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 11:17 am:

Are humans smart enough to recognize what happens to the whole when divided by half?

Time to turn back…from division …towards a more inclusive and unified vision…for the common good.

  24. - Jose Abreu's Next Homer - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 11:20 am:

RNUG, it’s not a relaunch. It’s a new station. WGN 9 remains the same.

  25. - Anyone Remember - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 11:25 am:

    “B) Don’t read Kass”

Clicked on the link in the Trib feed here about ‘Illinois Exodus’ thinking it might be another sack of you know what from IPI, Raunerite, BGA. Nope, it was from Kass. And he knows how to publish “inaccuracies” and legally get away with it.

  26. - Oswego Willy - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 11:34 am:

    === I can finally exhale.

    I figured he’d be front and center… ===

I was texting back and forth with a civilian and the discussion early in the week was this whole thing. I refused, in a karma-type way, to acknowledge this worry we both shared as they asked on a couple of occasions.

I dunno how the Raunerites make a case in Illinois that they are currently the overall party of reform when you have Rod Blagojevich flittering around as a Trumpkin, and his own sordid history and this idea that Trump felt he was treated unfairly.

Glad we weren’t the only worry warts.

    =RNUG, it’s not a relaunch.=

RNUG - WGN 9 stays the same. But it is actually a relaunch. I forget when, but the superstation that goes out nationally was rebranded WGN America some time ago and doesn’t have all of the same content as 9. That station is being rebranded for news only to compete nationally

@Dotnonymous Appreciate posting article. I read it. legitimate research -legitimate source
    Thank-you

  30. - Amalia - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 2:02 pm:

The ask by Webb to have the entire Smollett report released is important in one significant respect….list of the former ASAs he interviewed. that’s not in the public, Judge Toomin. likely a bunch of O’Brien supporters. someone could sue for the information. or some news entity.

  31. - Highland IL - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 2:16 pm:

Just watched Kinzinger’s video on the IL GOP FB post endorsing Trump. Guess he’s feeling confident he’s winning in November.

  32. - Oswego Willy - Friday, Aug 28, 20 @ 2:22 pm:

Kinzinger is a Trumpkin, the only time he pretends fake angst is if he can get some retweets or “likes”

It’s foolish thinking that Kinzinger isn’t a Trumpkin
