Bost tests positive for COVID-19

* US Rep. Mike Bost…
“I learned last night that I have tested positive for COVID-19. Despite taking my temperature regularly and having no evidence of a fever, I experienced a mild cough and a rapid loss of both taste and smell and recognized it was important to get tested immediately.
“My staff and I have consulted with Congress’ Office of the Attending Physician for additional guidance and any staff I’ve been in close contact with will quarantine until receiving their own test results. We are also beginning the process of reaching out to any constituents I’ve met with in recent days.
“I am postponing my public event schedule but will continue conducting virtual meetings as I isolate at home. We are taking this situation seriously and will continue to serve the people of Southern Illinois while doing our best to ensure their health and safety. I will provide additional updates in the days ahead and am anxious to get back to work as soon as I make a full recovery.”

My sincere best wishes to Congressman Bost to a speedy, easy, and full recovery.
I wish this virus on no one.

It was only a matter of time till public figures started to catch it. I see political types wearing porous surgical masks when there are better alternatives. The virus wont stop. Clay County had its first death yesterday. Only about 7-8 counties still untouched.

Wishing Mike a speedy recovery.

When those with access to top-flight health care and equipment can catch this it should be an alarm bell for those screaming for restaurants and sports to open up.
It’s not, but should be.
And we ain’t close to winter, yet.

Appears to have been a first-time commenter from Evanston.

I’m not sure I understand why you mention top flight health care and equipment as if they somehow prevent exposure to this virus. Or as if they somehow prevent a person from getting the virus. They may mitigate the severity of your illness or they may not. Famous and rich people die of it too.
We are in the middle of a pandemic. That should set off alarm bells on it’s own.

How many times has Bost joined his colleagues in voting to repeal the Affordable Healthcare Act?
And despite enormous political differences, I wish him a quick and complete recovery. I also hope he remembers how important access to healthcare is for the people in his district that don’t have full health benefits paid for by the government. It’s bad enough to be sick. Worrying about paying doctor bills doesn’t help.

47th ward - I understand your comments, and agree with them. Maybe your comments are what Flyin Elvis was trying to say. I just didn’t understand his comments that way.
