I actually liked the Lincoln statue, but the one with Sweater Guy was not necessary.
However, the ALPLM’s Lincoln statue is worlds better and more lifelike than the metal “Abstract Lincoln” (by Abbott Pattison) statue at the south (Capitol Street) entrance to the public Lincoln Library (the city of Springfield’s public library). Link to an SJ-R archives photo of the statue’s dedication upon the public library’s opening in 1976 shows how atrociously bad and hideously scary that statue is:
Shucks…always to ride on his shoulders like we were at a Doobie Brothers shindig

Along the lines of what I posted at 1:16, I wish it would have been possible for the city to buy both statues, and after their ALPLM run, move them to the city’s public Lincoln Library. With them replacing “Abstract Lincoln.”

Lincoln I could deal with, it was the Ned Flanders looking sweater guy which crossed the uncanny valley

Wait, wait. We can get his hat for a song at $10 million. And we can make back $100 of that right away with a loan to Glenn Beck.
