Areas outside of the Chicago Metro which have a third of the state’s population had 74% of the most recent deaths.

Can anyone explain what it means when they say “at warning level”? Of moving to the next tier of mitigations?

Yep. This was my fear back in March. it would hit the rural areas and we would be in bad shape due to demographics and lack of health care infrastructure. I remember a conversation with a few people who told me it wouldn’t happen. History is full of stories of these types of denials coming back to haunt us.
Read a book and wear a mask.

These numbers make me want to hide under my blankets and not come out for a couple of years.

Almost 11 new cases per minute in Illinois. We are in deep, deep trouble in two to three weeks.

@Dance Band
This is reallly important:
“two to three weeks” is now.
On average it is 5-6 days before you show symptoms.
Another 1-2 days before you get tested.
Its now taking as long as seven days to get results back from the lab.
it is another day before the results get compiled and reported out by IDPH.
We are looking at people who were infected back around Halloween.

Don’t worry folks, I’m sure this will get better “over the next few days” and we won’t need that stay at home order. /sarcasm.
Delaying the inevitable over useless sentiment.

To JS Mill and all the other “wear a mask” posters on this forum. It is not enough. You need to avoid high-touch surfaces at places like the grocery store such as credit card machines. Are you using touchless transaction methods and online shopping? (if not JS Mill and others YOU are spreading the virus.)

And yet my employer is keeping offices open because it has only been requested we close, not mandated. Guaranteed we are not the only ones.
- Nearly Normal - Friday, Nov 13, 20 @ 2:38 pm:
From today’s Pantagraph, stats about the ages of the 1,348 cases for just this past week:
Here’s the age breakdown for McLean County COVID cases reported in the past week:
Eight people less than the age of 1
147 people ages 1 through 17
85 people ages 18 or 19
408 people in their 20s
189 people in their 30s
198 people in their 40s
170 people in their 50s
104 people in their 60s
39 people in their 70s
22 people in their 80s
And eight people in their 90s.
Yes, the college aged are leading the pack but look at all the other age groups! I fear that this is going to get worse as we progress through this winter. People need to double down on wearing masks at all times even with family you don’t live with as well as friends.

Today’s 15,415 new cases is the highest single day increase in any state since the beginning of this pandemic.

There’s not much evidence that that’s true. I’m focused on science-based, evidence-based disease prevention.

Wrong on several fronts. COVID is primarily an airborne virus. And if you frequently wash/sanitize your hands these surfaces pose a negligible threat. The alcohol in hand sanitizer has been shown to kill the virus virtually on contact.
