Beautiful day in Springpatch with a slight chance of auroras for the next couple days.

White Sox pulling off some great signings, which still don’t make up for La Russa but still. Selling high on Dunning for the Rangers’ ace Lynn is brilliant and we get Eaton back for a reasonable one-year deal? Awesome bearing in mind that we got Giolito (our current Ace) and Lopez (still could hang in the rotation/bullpen possibly) for Eaton. Granted the Nats got a World Series with him 2 years ago, but not too shabby for Rick Hahn…too bad Reinsdorf didn’t trust him for the manager hiring!
We see why the Illini are ranked in top ten in the way thy dismantled Duke on their homecourt. Had Illini played this way against Baylor, they would have won and perhaps be rated #1 after last nights win
A snippet by WREX-13 Rockford about the NFC East playoff race is hinting that despite being tied for the division with 5-7 records, the Giants and Washington can’t be ruled out as playoff spoilers if either of them make it.
The Bears currently have the same 5-7 record and continuing to freefall.
In my opinion, the way the Bears are playing, if all their remaining 4 games were against each NFC East team they will probably still go 0-4 against them. Which could still likely happen in the real world.

To Chatham Resident ref the Bears: Once they lose another game or two they’ll thankfully be eliminated from the playoffs, where they would only lose embarrassingly anyway. #thebearsaredoneuntil21
A lot of turnovers for Illinois last night, but shooting well and playing good defense at key points made the difference in the game. Truthteller is right, if Illinois had shot that way vs. Baylor, #1 baby.

I knew in early October that the Bears’ schedule after Week 6 was going to be brutal and at best, they only had 3 games where they would be favored to win. Lions last Sunday which didn’t happen, Texans, Jaguars.
Now I’m thinking the Jaguars is the Bears’ only remaining chance at a win. I agree, they’ll definitely be eliminated from playoff contention Sunday.

A lot of posts for this early in the morning? Rich, did you stay up and write these last night during the Illini thumping of the Dukies?

Illini didn’t seem to play all that well and still pulled off a 15 point win at Duke.

Yesterday’s drive-time “Press Box” host on Sportsradio 1450 in Springfield yesterday described the latest Sox moves as a “Win Now” mentality.
Interesting quote considering that yesterday’s host is a Cub fan.

12 years ago today in Capitol Fax history:

Today is exactly 12 years since Blago’s arrest.
Also 17 years today since former Senator Paul Simon’s passing (Dec. 9, 2003).
