Fun with numbers
3.5 grams of Cannabis goes for $83 or $10,750 a pound. A cannabis plant can yield a pound.
An acre of corn can yield six tons and a bushel of yellow number 2 goes for $4 or 7 cents per pound.
Cigarettes contain 1 gram of tobacco. Were tobacco were priced like cannabis a pack of smokes would go for $474 with a special 25% sales tax component of $103. So basically Cannabis is priced 100 times higher than tobacco.
There, solved the budget problem. Place a $100 tax per pack of smokes. I am pretty sure the black market can get dried flowers from one plant to market at $10,000 a pound. The black market does not have to pay workers compensation ya know. Ha ha. Friday fun with numbers. Have a great day everybody.
So I subscribe to four papers around Illinois because I like to be informed and /or misinformed from time to time. One subscription is the Chicago Tribune. I have tried 4 times in the last three weeks to update my online CC payment information each time they post a note at the top of the page telling me to call their number for payment etc. Which I have now done and instead of changing my billing CC, which was tied to a card iI no longer have. Tribune bosses any wonders why you’re losing subscribers? Start with bringing your billing/ data system into the 21st century. Oh and Rich CapFax Rules !
Fun with numbers in Al’s post. I can hear the tobacco lobby screaming already. And for those of you in a Covid funk, we are 14 days from Christmas, and today is Friday, Dec. 11, 2020. Other fun numbers include 19 legislators who want MJM out, 6 who can’t believe the gall of the 19 to do something without their consent, and 1 who isn’t going anywhere yet. The final fun number is believed to be 1, that being the number of games the Bears can lose before being out of the playoffs. Happy Friday.
IPI got a lawsuit to the Supreme Court (hearing potentially in March session) on state bonding authority. I doubt it succeeds but the ramifications if IPI wins are severe for the State and municipalities.
Northwestern (Chicago’s college team) has to play this weekend while Ohio State gets a week off and gets to prepare for NU and stay healthy for the B1G championship.
