Every player with ten or more years of legislative experience who has not been active in the previous twenty years, and is not on the Illinois General Assembly’s ineligible list, is eligible for Veterans Committee consideration.

Tom Ryder from West Central Illinois is about the only one worth his salt here. He and Demuzio worked in tons of bipartisan ways in the late 80s and early 90s for the good of Illinois. True, they did stuff politically back then, too but having both of them work together with Edgar was a big deal for the state when it seemed a lot of dysfunction didn’t exist as much in the public eye. Maybe I have a romantic view…not sure. Ryder is a common sense kind of guy, something the GOP terribly lacks today.

I find it hard to believe that this is contested. Couldn’t one of these guys challenge the petitions of the others to get them tossed from the ballot? I assume the ballot order was determined by random drawing since all of them spent the night outside GARS waiting to be first to file? Right? Please tell me that’s how these elections work.
Also, good to know Bill Marovitz is getting a pension. He really needs the money. He’s been retired for 31 years now.
