It’s a gorgeous view from inside the house looking out at the snowy landscape this morning. But I hear many of the roads and especially side streets and sidewalks are quite treacherous. Weekend went by way to fast, but this is the first, non-holiday Monday I am excited about in I don’t know how long. PS - keep an eye on AMC and GME this week..
Looked at the weather radar this weekend. There was a time when it was either raining or snowing across the entire state of Illinois and most of Indiana.
Massive storm - but with the local droughty conditions in CIL a good rain was needed.
It’s the alleys up here. I shoveled out the area behind my garage, but most of my neighbors haven’t yet. I was able to get my car out of the garage, but there were two other cars already hopelessly stuck in the alley so I couldn’t get anywhere anyway.
Wish I had one of those neighbors with a snowplow on my block. Until then, at least I have ibuprofen.
I keep thinking that if I regard this as a “let’s make a snowfort” snow that I will embrace the endless shovel/snowblower cycle. Not every neighbor handles their snow biz in ways that are helpful. more snow for me.

This program has had problems for years. It always seems to overpromise and underdeliver.
There really is no excuse for not moving forward after years of ignoring the law as it is written.
The idea seems sound and our new Speaker has raised his concerns in the past. I always thought his raising concerns about this problem was a big plus for him.
Perhaps it is time for our General Assembly to have hearings and get to the cause of the problems.

I’m in my late 30s and went sledding for the first time in maybe 15 years with a couple friends. It was just nice to see a crowd of people having fun. Thankfully due to weather almost everyone was wearing masks regardless.
My brother died in June, 2019. On Friday, I got two pieces of mail from IDES in his name. Yep, someone used his name and applied for unemployment. Then Saturday came the debit card in his name.
I called this morning and got my name and number in their system for return call. Wonder how many days it will take for that call to occur.
If none of those three are willing to eradicate racists, insurrectionists, and conspiracy theorists, then why look at the state party as a serious organization willing to be a political party.
It’s not to me to pick, or choose among those three, it’s up to them to realize Kinzinger is right in this charge to better the party and our country.
If the state party sees Mary Miller as a worthy person in this discussion, as an example, then why even worry what the ILGOP leadership is, it’s choosing Miller (no relation to a Rich) over Kinzinger… and that’s not gonna help the ILGOP be competitive in Illinois.
It’s an easy answer;
Whomever is willing to work with Adam Kinzinger to rid the party of the racists, insurrectionists, and the conspiracy theorists.
Only a couple of inches downstate, but I ran the snowblower anyway. Hadn’t started it yet this year and didn’t want to miss my chance. Not sure I ran it last year either.
I wish that were the case but if current national trends are anything to go by, ILGOP will sooner elect someone more in line with Marjorie Taylor Greene than Adam Kinzinger. Dog help us all
The sooner Adam K. is allowed to be viewed and positioned not as a savior of some sort but as a normal human being who has some good ideas, considerable political skills, and also some downsides, is when people will pay attention. Falling in love with a politician is always a bad idea.
=== ILGOP will sooner elect someone more in line with Marjorie Taylor Greene than Adam Kinzinger. … help us all===
Yep.
And, I’ve said, I’ll know right off how this will roll, it’ll make my decisions real easy going forward.
Kinzinger needs people willing first to stand up to racists, insurrectionists, and conspiracy theorists, then be willing to rid the party of them. Sadly, that is a big minority right now in the GOP, and seemingly in the ILGOP(?), and a huge ask. I’m pulling for Kinzinger, but it’s not an easy road, might even be a dead end, frankly
Got my 1st dose of the Moderna vaccine on Saturday at the Tinley Park Convention Center. They ran a very smooth operation and it looks like they can scale up the numbers quickly. The National Guard soldier who gave me the shot says they were doing 2100/day last week and are moving to 3100/day this week.
Guess OW would rather take Republicans he don’t agree with and send them to places like Manzanar instead of seeking common ground. The only thing Kinzinger’s attempting to resuscitate is his bid for governor, but Gary Rabine already becoming my favorite.
“Donald Trump Jr., son of President Donald Trump, and Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle visited Woodstock last week to speak at a Trump rally at Bull Valley Golf Club.
The event took place Oct. 13 and featured an indoor meet-and-greet fundraiser with Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr., followed by an outdoor rally that ran from 5 p.m. until about 7:30 p.m.
Event host Gary Rabine said he was able to draw the big names using his connections within a few Republican organizations to convince the Trump campaign that it would be worth their while.”
