Would be interesting to see an analysis of state by state capacity in terms of state workforce when it comes to vaccine distribution. Just a casual look, it appears that the states doing best in administering the vaccine are the ones with the largest per capita state workforces

Almost 109k doses have been pulled away from the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program…their allocation was 537k on 1/27 and is now only 428k.
Considering that the PPP hadn’t even administered 50% of their doses this is a good thing. Illinois (sans PPP) is running 73% administered.

Stu - On the face of it, it’s a good thing. The federal program was useful at the outset to focus on LTC and skilled nursing facilities for residents and staff. After the take rate on the vaccine was so low for staff and residents were given both shots, their work is mostly done.

Those shots are being rerouted through brick and mortar stores now but until those stores are giving say 100 jabs a day they don’t have the man power resources needed. Give those vaccines to larger county health departments and mass vaccination sites so they can be used quickly.

Received 2nd dose of covid vaccine today -very impressed with HSHS St. Johns in Springfield. They have sought out patients who use their physician affiliates via their My Chart online system and offered vaccination. It is well organized, socially distant, indoors with good parking and polite efficient staff. Some hospital groups are doing it right. Need much more of this.
