It was a toe tapping good night. Almost a perfect night…. Mercedes does it again (you know because the game before the genius manager sat his hottest hitter against the best pitcher in baseball which makes a lot of sense, right?). That high fastball, sweeping slider, and that low inside change up that looked like it was dancing on the way to the plate was just too much for anyone. What a great game.
Cubs fan, but that was an amazing performance. Can’t believe he missed perfection by a foot. Still, a remarkable game in which he got stronger entering the 8th and 9th.
“The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it’s a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good and that could be again.”
Watching last night, I cringed when Jason Benetti started giving stats about perfect games. And we all know: you don’t talk about it, Jason (banned punctuation). Two pitches later, he nails Perez in the foot. Call me superstitious…

Last night was almost perfect. Glad I watched the game. To top it off, the Blues lost (was watching that game too).
When the Sox let Carlos go during the offseason, I thought a fresh start somewhere else would be the best thing for him to find his way. Naturally, I was surprised they brought him back, but what do I know? Evidently he’s another who has really responded well to Ethan Katz.
I buy the MLB package to watch my team. As far as I am concerned, last night’s game was worth the full $129 that I paid for the entire season all by itself.
Watching the performance of the Sox pitching staff overall so far this season, I think Ethan Katz was the right person at the right time to replace Coop.
Another star last night in addition to Carlos and Abreu and Yermin was Zack Collins whose game calling was exemplary. The young man has caught only 16 major league games in his career –and now has a no hitter on his resume. To reinforce how rare and special that is, Yadier Molina caught his 2000th MLB game last night and has never caught a no hitter.
also a good watch, the after game commentary with Ozzie, the Big Hurt and Garfein. just so hilarious. and, Yerminator is at it again. what a great story.

Yesterday’s Sox & Cubs games are a snapshot of how the season looks for both. Great for Sox! Oh boy what a mess for Cubs.

Rodon no hitter. Cubs embarrassed.
“Is this Heaven?”
“No, it’s Chicago.”
- Keyrock - Thursday, Apr 15, 21 @ 8:57 am:
Great fun last night. It was inspirational.
I’m still angry about the runner-on-2d rule for the tenth inning. The game Tuesday night was a travesty.
- Oswego Willy - Thursday, Apr 15, 21 @ 9:02 am:
What a great performance by Rodon;
114 pitches, with 7 strikeouts, pretty doggone efficient.
Fastest pitches of the night were in the 8th and 9th.
Tough to see the perfecto go to the wayside but a crisply pitched no-no.
That backstory, his comeback, then last night… how can you *not* be romantic about baseball?

Perez never moved! Next hitter same pitch-same location and? He moved. Hope Perez gets one in the ribs next game

Man, Rodon looks like he earned that 5th spot. Been pitching better than Dallas right now

Unrelated. Benetti & Stone, man these are good times to be a Sox fan.
