What’s on your mind today?

Tomato’s sitting in hothouse. Should be in ground.

“What’s on your mind today?” I’m feeling like March 420, 2020 can’t come soon enough, but it will soon.

Here in south Sangamon County, 1.5 of rain between 6PM last night and this morning. Great if you already have seeds and plants in the ground, not so much if you need to work the soil and plant things. But, not complaining, last week it snowed and dropped to 25 out here so Yay Spring Showers.

Golf.
- Huh? - Thursday, Apr 29, 21 @ 9:16 am:
Planted potatoes in containers a couple weeks ago. They have sprouted and doing well. Have 10 containers of various sizes. Wonder what a purple potato tastes like.

What’s a typewriter?

On my mind?
When the Cubs won a World Series, it was one of the largest celebratory parades in the history of the World.
When the Sox won the World Series, the giddiness, pride, and love for the White Sox was palpable everywhere, not just on “the south side”
When the Hawks were winning multiple Stanley Cups, the darlings of the NHL, the blueprint thereafter for other franchises, the new building on Madison welcomed excellence.
When the “Madhouse on Madison” held arguably the greatest basketball player, at least of his generation, the world wanted to be like Mike and the traveling circus that won 6 titles, and the “Big Barn” smiled in its twilight.
But…
Chicago is a Bears town.
I’m thinking about the draft today, how 7-9, 8-8, and 9-7 are the worst records you can ever have in the NFL and who the Bears feel they can get to get over that 10 win threshold and start winning consecutive division titles, and move closer to another Super Bowl appearance, this time bringing back the Lombardi Trophy.
On my mind, will the Bears decide these upcoming picks should be franchise changing or “best available and hope” type of baloney keeping the Bears mired in mediocrity.

Rainy and 49 degrees in beautiful DuPage County. I had hoped to get my garden started earlier this year, but….

What Rube Goldberg type device was I watching?

Rain for most of the state, folks north of 80 needed more than they got.
Central Illinois farmers got just enough to kick start seed in the ground and push along what got planted before the freeze a week ago.
Southern Illinois guys are always a week away from a drought so as long as the bottoms stay dry they are OK.
Farmers can complain about anything - but right NOW don’t listen. They have nothing to gripe about.

That typewriter may not have been built for speed but it is nonetheless an impressive piece of equipment. 36 fonts? Wow.
- Original Rambler - Thursday, Apr 29, 21 @ 11:27 am:
That’s a terrific device. Thanks for posting. Hope it is on display in your house and not packed away.

===Hope it is on display in your house===

Looking forward to get togethers this weekend with people I haven’t spent much if any time with in the last year.

The American Writers Museum has a typewriter exhibit. It’s fun to watch anyone under 40 try to figure out what they are.

My younger brother in Atlanta texting my last night throughout the Braves’s pummeling of the Cubs 10-0. He’s normally so nice to me.
I really like the typewriter–very cool.
- 32nd Ward Roscoe Village - Thursday, Apr 29, 21 @ 12:42 pm:
Forgot to add: my brother was actually at the baseball stadium for the game so it is nice that we are getting back to events. I didn’t even mind getting stuck in Cubs traffic last weekend on my way to my first restaurant meal since last summer!

I can’t see anything about typewriters without thinking about Tom Hanks and his typewriters. Cheryl44, I’m under 40 and have actually used typewriters, but maybe I’m just unusual.
This was a cool story that popped up on the side: https://www.chicagotribune.com/politics/ct-bison-bridge-mississippi-river-quad-cities-20210429-6zt3k6m7w5bzpg5bziqyfiucue-story.html
I like to see people thinking outside of the box and government officials not rejecting the idea out of hand. More power to the people in the Quad Cities.
