The Gleyber trade will always be justified if never loved because 2016. The Quintana trade, on the other hand, was a colossal mistake that never paid any dividends
Wow…just watched the Pirates informative “How to Fail at Baseball” clip. I barely played baseball as a kid, and this is such a chain of a) not knowing the rules (as to the 1st baseman), b) sloppy ball control (bad throws), and c) Baez continuing to play to the end winding up with a double. Plus, he called his teammate ’safe’ and he was. Wild (banned punct).
Baez forced a guy to chase him back to Home Plate from First Base. Getting that to happen could prove we’re wasting his potential on a baseball field. He should be at the UN.

== Itās wild when you realize, all the Pirates first baseman had to do, was step on first base ā¦==
I wonder if the ‘62 Mets committed similar first base bloopers to what the Pirates did yesterday.
Every baseball fan should read (or listen to) the 2019 book ‘K: A History of Baseball in Ten Pitches’ by Tyler Kepner. One of the pitches examined is the slider, its history, the technique in throwing one, great sliders thrown in key game situations, the pitchers who threw the best sliders in baseball history and then the same for nine other pitches. It will change how you watch baseball. It will make the pitcher, catcher, batter, umpire interaction as fascinating as watching a ballet.
The head shaking aspect of Pirates errors in the 3rd is (1) there were already two outs in the inning and (2) those 2 unearned runs cost them the game. Various terms about the game were trending on twitter for hours afterwards.
That video of Cease hurts to watch. Especially because neither he nor Quintana now play for my Cubs. A stupid trade that is coming back to bite the Cubs hard.

Cease looked a little shaky at times last night, but also threw some great unhittable pitches, per the example above. He’s a really good young pitcher. Let’s hope the Sox can hang on to him.
The Sox plan is to get 6 innings from the starter then hope for the best with the relief pitching. Last night the plan worked well.
Wishing everyone a thankful Memorial Day. Thankful to be above ground. Thankful to those who left us early so we could argue and vote freely. Thankful for the time spent with those who are gone.

I don’t think White Castle’s sells sliders like that.

Iām up too dog gone early this morning.
That Javy Baez play yesterday was hilarious and made the Pirates look like the Keystone Kops.

After riding this 4-game win streak (albeit mostly against the Pirates) the Cubs find themselves tied for first.
Didnāt see that coming, but…

I’m not a Cubs fan but I doubt that we’ll see a play like Baez’ yesterday ever again during my lifetime. Got to give him an A+ for creativity.

I’m listening to Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On,” which turned 50 last week. What an amazing album.

Took 2 of 3 in STL days ago, you. Can only play games you have the opportunity to do so.
The Brewers are head scratching of all three clubs.
