As the Olympics begin, good luck to all the athletes, I’m looking forward to all the Illinois connections (home state, training at U of I, etc) and the pride I know I’ll have for our team, and the Illinois athletes too.
Yesterday, I recommended the Klein & Mason Secretary of State Facility for getting your sticker. They immediately after announced that they are closing until August 4 due to a Covid case among staff. Hopefully advice from others was more useful!
A story about the late Robert Shaw (or his twin brother; it wasn’t always easy to tell them apart.)
I was eating at Manny’s one day maybe 20 years ago, when I saw one of the Shaw brothers at a table with a couple of people. I had to walk by his table on my way to the cashier.
I heard Shaw say three words as I walked by: “hundred dollar bills.” I always wondered about the rest of the sentence.
I was glad to see the NFL take a firm stance on vaccines yesterday. Hopefully they don’t waiver. If a player doesn’t want to get one that’s their choice. But when 97% of the hospitalizations and deaths are coming from the unvaccinated population we have to do anything and everything to reinforce the importance of getting the shot. And for those that decide not to they need to be keenly aware of the consequences.
===Has everybody in that town been drinking Lake Erie water or something?===
Possibly “something” - Great Lakes Brewing in Cleveland makes several excellent beers with names tied to the Great Lakes, including Edmund Fitzgerald and Eliot Ness.

Len Small was indicted and arrested on embezzlement 100 years ago this weekend. Only 6 1/2 months into his first term as Governor.

Wasn’t pretty, but Cards took 3 of 4 from the Cubs. Although it could have easily been a 4-game sweep for either team.
How about that Sox-Brewers series this weekend.

Is there a realistic chance that the Sox could pick up Kris Bryant?

Opening ceremony for olympics pretty surreal with an empty stadium. Glad to see it happening

Was I the only one who saw Robert Shaw had died and immediately thought of Doyle Lonnegan, you follow?

Dirksen S. O. S. has a drive thru window for license plate stickers. Used it yesterday - very quick and safe.
If you need to do inside stuff pick a bad weather day - cuts down on the line

Why not the Cleveland Spiders? Seriously. Has history on its side.
- Oswego Willy - Friday, Jul 23, 21 @ 11:04 am:
To button up the Cleveland ball club bit… they are named for the iconic, art deco Guardians of Traffic on the Hope Bridge right outside the stadium.
Allegedly… and if so… that’s kinda niche-cool to the town.
- Oswego Willy - Friday, Jul 23, 21 @ 11:05 am:
Also, I coulda bought the Spiders too. Historically cool.

Guardians of traffic. So is their new mascot going to be a crossing guard?
- OldSmoky2 - Friday, Jul 23, 21 @ 11:28 am:
Guardians is a decent choice. It’s unique and has local ties to Cleveland. And the new uniforms look pretty sharp.
