Tinfoil hats crushed in Kane County
Friday, Jul 23, 2021 - Posted by Rich Miller
* James Fuller at the Daily Herald…
A small group of [Kane County] Republicans, based mainly in the Campton Hills area, have spent the past couple months pushing county officials to have an independent, third-party, forensic audit of the 2020 election. The request is based on the group’s interpretations of election data posted on the Kane County clerk’s website and anecdotal experiences posted on conservative social media. […]
[Kane County Clerk Jack Cunningham, a Republican] said all of the concerns are attributable to the group not understanding the election data or attaching worries about fraud that aren’t supported in reality. The 2020 election saw multiple recounts and intense examination after the close 14th Congressional District contest. Nothing illegal or unethical was found to have happened at any point, he said. […]
Republican Party Chairman Ken Shepro, who also serves on the county board, said his examination of the questions and suggested fraud lost all credibility when the major allegation about an impossible growth in the number of registered Kane County voters “carelessly” didn’t account for the dissolution of Aurora Election Commission and Kane County absorbing those voters.
Oh, for crying out loud.
There’s more, so go read the rest if you want a good look at the extent of ignorant conspiracy mongering in this state.

Fiscal conservatives wasting everyone’s time and money with wild goose chases, tantrums, and frivolous lawsuits.
Thanks to the insatiable ego of one man (child).

The pandering to conspiracy theorists seems to Trump facts and actual truth, part 4,117
This part of the trifecta, (with racists and insurrectionists) is arguably the the most dangerous to our democracy, eroding the belief… and the truth… that America has fair and free elections… and our democracy works based on the facts and we accept outcomes at the ballot box.
Russian propaganda from the Cold War strived for this kind of attack on our democracy… and it’s here… even in Kane Country.
Good on the Clerk.

Is this an unintended consequence of too many trophies awarded in youth sports? Nobody has learned how to lose? /s.
Oh wait - with bone spurs, the man child likely didn’t play any sports.

100 pts to Lincoln Lad

Anyone who has worked with voter data can tell you the birthdates are not very reliable.
Also not realizing that the removal of the Aurora Election Commission would have had an impact on the registered vote count in the county, dudes.
Two more things as a local.
No one who has spent time in the Kane County GOP is surprised this is coming out of Campton Township.

Minor clarification. While all the concerned citizens asking for audit pulled Republican ballots last year, the ask was nothing official as “Republicans”, but through a not-for-profit group, Three Headed Eagle Alliance, Inc.
Omitted from excellent Daily Herald article by James Fuller, Bobby Piton who spoke for 6 minutes at full Kane County Board meeting last week about his “findings”, was ejected from committee meeting for being disrespectful before clerk’s presentation.
And Oswego Willy right, good on the Kane County clerk.

Whether at the national, state, or local level none of the arguments that have been advanced have been based on factual information. But if you spread enough disinformation you can get people to believe it.

=Russian propaganda from the Cold War strived for this kind of attack on our democracy=
Putin could not have done it any better if he had done it himself. Trump has fueled chaos in the US for his own personal gain. The “patriots” are helping our enemy. If ever some of these folks ever have the epiphany and realize that, their heads will explode.

Tin foil may be crushed, but my guess is they are thinking the county clerk is a rino and they are right and he is lying.

He actually played football and I think our country continues to suffer due to his CTE.

Proof? If you had any, you would have posted it.

Just another example of the self-destructive nature of conservatives.
I’m right, and if you disagree you’re wrong.
…and not a patriot.
…and are a socialist.
…and don’t respect the flag.
…and don’t back the blue.

I always like to remind people that the right wing has never been “fiscally conservative.” They only ever care about making sure the ‘wrong people’ don’t get any benefits.

First, before I say anything else, I have known Jack since I became involved in Kane County GOP politics and he was one of the first people who reached out to me when I was first a committeeman (over 25 years ago, I am no longer a committeeman) and consider him a friend.
He is about as old-school Republican as you can get. Like anyone who has been around for a while, people have various opinions about him I am sure, but if he is someone’s RINO, they really need to take a zoology class. The fact these folks and Oberweis have given him flack because they don’t like reality says a lot about him and even more about them.

These nutcases will continue to question the results until they get the answer they want. Explanations, reasoning, data, etc, etc are a waste of time on them.
- Amalia - Friday, Jul 23, 21 @ 12:40 pm:
what Rich wrote. 1/3 of the way through it I said out loud, Oh God Lord. The Koolaid is very very strong with Republicans and things that happen in other jurisdictions affect processes here. I have a quite educated pal…conservative,Trump voter, but would have voted for whomever ran against Biden/Hillary/Barack… who a few months ago was full on with the Antifa did Jan. 6. I just don’t get it. I don’t get any of it with them.

Racism and conspiracy theories are powerful drugs

bottom line, time to shut these folks up. make an allegation that is continually proven false should have an accountability at some point

=These nutcases will continue to question the results until they get the answer they want.=
More importantly, as Georgia and Texas have showed us, they’ll question these results to do what they want. And that’s the real danger if it goes unchecked.

” Tin foil may be crushed, but my guess is they are thinking the county clerk is a rino and they are right and he is lying”
My guess is that this could have been less confusing had it been written as: “Tin foil may be crushed, but my guess is 1) they are thinking the county clerk is a rino, and 2) they are right, and 3) he is lying”
But that’s just my guess.

The Campton Twp. Rs were formerly thought to be weird because they were anti-development, tree-hugging types. Some have gotten especially trumpy of late.
