– The City of Chicago will celebrate the 2021 WNBA Champion Chicago Sky on Tuesday, October 19 with a downtown parade and rally. The parade will begin at 11AM when the team departs from Wintrust Arena, arriving at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park for a celebration rally starting at noon.
“The City of Chicago could not be prouder of our winning Chicago Sky,” said Mayor Lori Lightfoot. “We are thrilled to throw a celebration worthy of this historic moment in Chicago sports and congratulate the Sky for bringing our city its first WNBA title. Let’s get ready to paint the town #SkyTown!”
PARADE ROUTE
The official parade starts with the team leaving Wintrust Arena at 11AM, traveling north on Michigan Avenue from Roosevelt Rd. to Randolph St., and heading east to Pritzker Pavilion. Fans are encouraged to cheer on the Sky along the parade route.
RALLY
A Celebration Rally will take place at Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park starting at noon.
The rally is free and open to the public. All attendees must pass through security screening at select entrances off Michigan Ave. and Monroe St. Guests are encouraged to leave bags at home. For security, health, and safety information, please visit MillenniumPark.org and “Plan Your Visit.”
While attendees are not required to be vaccinated to attend, it is highly encouraged. Please do not attend if you do not feel well or recently tested positive for COVID-19.

Great to see sellout crowds for the finals (and to see them rewarded) - like MLS, the WNBA is slowly but surely growing in popularity. Particularly great job containing Britney Griner in Game 1 and the 4th quarter yesteday.

Maybe the Bulls should be demoted to Wintrust and the Sky to the UC? Certainly a better product recently for the Sky. I’m sure they could still pack the place.

Yesterday’s comeback was a lot of fun to watch and the fact of it being for a championship made it even more so. I feel bad for anyone who didn’t watch because they were watching that terrible bears game

Great game. Great series.

It was a bummer watching the Bears lose for the umpteenth time to the Packers. Then it was a bummer watching the Sky trail by double digits. Couldn’t continue watching the last part of the game but when the team caught up late and led by six at the end, it was so joyful and such a reversal of the earlier mood. Celebration time.

Oh my goodness, what a team, what a game!! I literally couldn’t stop the tears as the clock wound down and Candace Parker was already crying. Such amazing women who played their tails off — Allie’s 3 pointers, Courtney’s amazing ball movement and assists. Candace being Candace and doing it all — Stephanie taking a tough fall (I could hear her head hit the court) and still battling all the way to the end with 2 key buckets late and keeping Griner from scoring at will. KFC giving it her all the entire series. I’m just sorry I didn’t get on board sooner and watch more games. I will do better next season.

Amazing games here in Chicago and a great time going and seeing sold-out crowds. I’m glad media put the story on the front page today but the Sky have been ignored almost every day prior to today. Hopefully that will change.

some of the best passing in basketball I’ve seen in a while. the beauty of the game comes out when there is not a concentration on dunks. Vandersloot got a lot of SLOOT shouting from me. Candace Parker was so calm when they got way down, like she willed them to win. and the game on Friday night…the blowout…was just crazy with the bench players raining threes. WOW all around. KFC getting bleeped made me so happy. f…ing great. and there was an actual villain….Taurasi, who should have been suspended for touching the ref in a previous game, and who broke the door after losing the game yesterday. Girl power in so many ways. Cool for Chicago.

To win +36 on Friday and then be down 14 in the 3rd and down 9 to start the 4th it felt like the championship had slipped away and the mood in the stadium reflected that.
Tied with 1:57 left and ended up +6 at the buzzer.
The last several minutes are available to watch online in several places- if you like basketball you should give it a watch
Or stop by for a game if you’re up North. They were selling upper deck baseline for $20. For a finals game(banned punctuation)

Congrats to the Chicago Sky.
It has been so much fun coming into learning about them and watching this happen, bandwagoning as I was… but it has been so cool

So impressed with the Sky and that fact we have a home town leader for the team. The Mercury has some legendary players, so the Sky win was so great.

Really thrilled for the Sky win. The franchise seems so low a few years ago when all the star players wanted to leave. Amazing to see the team rally together and show what they were capable of.

Confused why you needed to be vaccinated to attend LollaPalooza but not this rally. Lots of people in a largish outdoor space shouting at the top their lungs. Just saying. Seems a little double standard

Congratulations to the Sky and to Candace Parker for bringing the trophy to Chicago. I had the pleasure of watching Parker play in high school, and her level of performance continues to amaze me.

Terrific win yesterday. Been watching the last half of the season or so. If you like team basketball and not the one on one isolations in the NBA, check out the Sky. KFC coming into her own was a treat, and learning she was part of the EDD trade a bonus. Congratulations to all from owners to the team managers.
