Per subscriber section: The candidate mentioned as winning an important election went up against another candidate of the same race (and even gender), so using race for an analysis in that campaign may not be fair.
Also, yeah, happy Friday. This week was brutal with everyone wanting to get stuff done before the holiday “week.”
Lots of fans like Babe Ruth was the best player in MLB history, but what this kid did this season is amazing so well deserving of the MVP -Shohei Ohtani is by far the best player in the MLB
It’s a much happier Friday morning than Thursday night, based on the Build Back Better vote today and marathon virtue signaling and phony outrage last night. It’s one step in the bill’s perilous journey, but at least it was taken. We don’t know if it will survive Sinemanchin, but some form of the bill eventually passing would be great for Illinois.
There is no doubt he was the MVP and truly the best player in the bigs this year.
Keep in mind, however, Ruth’s home run totals in seasons surpassed entire ball clubs, and his pitching prowess, for his era, winning 18 games three season in a row, two of those seasons, over 23 wins, and an ERA below 2.44 in each of those seasons.
I hope Shohei Ohtani can try to match the pitching prowess of the Babe, what a talent we are witnessing today

Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg Address 158 years ago today. Almost 8 score years ago. Still meaningful and, importantly, very brief.
Looking forward to pouring myself a beer and watching the Bulls game this evening, and man has it been a long time since I could honestly write such a sentence.

Big surprise this afternoon. Bruce Rushton is back at the SJ-R, apparently as “correspondent.” He submitted a story about Wednesday night’s public meeting in Pawnee regarding the proposed Lincoln Land Energy Center, including Sierra Club opposition to the project.

Sunny morning. Too bad they can’t schedule lunar eclipses for during the day when we’re awake already. /s
