Two years ahead of schedule, Illinois Comptroller Susana A. Mendoza has made the final $302 million payment on a $2 billion loan the state took out in 2020 to cover COVID-19 expenses.
Any Central Illinois have a chance to try the new Broadguage restaurant in Petersburg? It’s run by the owners of the old Long 9 Junction in Springfield. I had a reservation but canceled it for reasons and now it seems like the place is booked all the time.

No idea where the season will go for the Fighting Illini, but watching Kofi Cockburn play is a joy…

The year is 2022, but legislative caucuses are still requiring State agencies to submit their ISL budgets to them in paper form.
Feel for Chicago parents today navigating the CPS-CTU fight.
Also just read that two Chicago blackhawks players had their cars stolen when their restaurant valet got carjacked. Does not really make me want to spend my tourism dollars there right now.

The paper forms always have at least one error. You think the GA has the resources to produce an error free piece of software? Who are they going to use, DoIT?

Was more or less thinking a PDF version uploaded to a server would suffice as opposed to spending countless hours and dollars printing and stuffing binders. I think DoIT could handle the interface of that, lol.
Better suggestion. All Legislative / Judicial requests for data must use an electronic format (including accommodating data uploads). Saw OAG finally uses a spreadsheet for their request to agencies of federal exp. as a % of total exp.
How about a computer program to link $ data on the Legislative Research Unit’s LRU 191 to IOC expenditure data?
How about a computer program to link inventory data on the Annual Certification filed with CMS with the equipment data in the ERP? [OK, partial use of sarcasm font there]
I live close enough to the lake I get some lake effect weather. Today, if I look out my office (dining room) window, facing south, the sun is shining. If I go look out the west facing windows in my living room, it’s snowing.
Every new and used car dealer right now: “I’ve got this thing and it’s (expletive) golden…I’m not just giving it up for (expletive) nothing.”

If we even have baseball this year, the Sun Times is reporting that the Sox is the AL Central favorite. With Cards expected to be in 2nd again (behind Brew Crew) and Cubs in 4th in the NL Central.
I am not a fan of some of the language used to describe what is occurring, but I thought other readers might appreciate this NYTimes piece detailing issues that exist between a unit of government and it’s correction employees.
Here’s a pull out quote to sell you on it:
===But when the bus to Rikers arrived at the courthouse, many of the guards refused to board it. Instead, according to interviews, they claimed the onset of sudden illness. Seven of them dialed 911, complaining of chest pain, leg injuries, lightheadedness and palpitations. One produced a cane as proof of disability. More than a dozen officers left in ambulances. Rikers remained understaffed.===

Not Illinois related (but COVID-related), but a case of a combination flu and COVID illness (dubbed “flurona”) has been reported in Los Angeles:

1) They’re probably not driving a 2001 Dodge Dart.
2) Take public transit.
