I guess I’m not too bright. I really thought at some level the GOP would use yesterday to say those who stormed US Capitol and hunted the VP and members of congress like big game, don’t represent, speak for or illustrate who the GOP is.
Instead, the GOP confirmed they are now a party of spineless gutless cowards who fear an old man in Florida and his band of terrorist.
Had to run to Menards yesterday evening and noticed how little staff they had working at that time. I know they are hiring, but I wonder how much of that was due to folks out with COVID.
Noting that I have been at my desk and a busy beaver since 0530. Also noting as of now (0900) it’s been a record number of face palms. Looking forward to a pot of tea, a big blanket, and a good book after lunch. I love illinois, I love where I live in SW IL, but some days the distance between the sublime and the ridiculous is just too much and filled with potholes. Today would be one of those days. But it is a lovely sunny cold day for all the cold hardy nature lovers. It’s stunning out there, great bird and wildlife watching opportunities abound.

One of the Chatham Facebook groups last night had a post from a parent griping that her grade school child’s classroom was forced to walk around the track during PE despite yesterday’s single digit temperatures. However, this lady added that this child had eczema problems so this hurt the kid’s hands.
Not giving an opinion on this either way, just reporting what is turning into the latest Chatham school controversy. Unless stepping outside despite the subzero temps is necessary to help prevent COVID in schools.
Ted Cruz denounces 1/6 as “terrorism” and then a couple hours later apologizes to Tucker for calling it “terrorism.” Man, that guy is the worst (both Ted and Tucker).
Doing the treadmill to the tune of 2.5 miles daily after being a bit indulgent over the holidays. Those extra pounds are just melting away, but I’ve got much more melting to do…just like outside does.
Perhaps an over-consumption of news, but are we supposed to be doing Dry January or Cry January this year?
On the plus side, every time Lori blows her hot air the wind chill factor rises 5-10 degrees.

U of I is not only requiring full vaccination for all employees and students, they’re also requiring the booster too.
Please bring on the EO mandating this for all other state employees too. Not just the prison employees. And not just full vaccination but the booster too, 6 months after your second shot.
(I have been boosted since early October, BTW. Still limiting what I do and where I go outside of work).
Sun shining, fake birds frozen to the ground, politicians politicking, and Covidiocy running amok. We are 7 days into 2022. *Sigh* Well, at least the Bears’ season is almost over. And the USFL is back in 2022.
===Please bring on the EO mandating this for all other state employees too.===
After all of the trashing of line employees at state agencies, I would also like to see the percentage of people in exempt positions that are vaccinated and boosted, and the percentage of the Governor’s office that are vaccinated and boosted.
I’m tired of the Governor’s office and CMS pretending like only people in bargaining unit positions can be anti-vax. It’s easy to pick on people who are at the bottom of the totem pole. Lets talk about people in supervisory positions and with decision making power and lets see how many of them haven’t been vaccinated yet.

==Well, at least the Bears’ season is almost over.==
And that we’re only 3 days away from Nagy and Pace being fired. If not a total Bears housecleaning.
Then again, my fear is that if the Bears actually win on Sunday and complete a post-Christmas miracle and 7-10 season, that McCaskey decides “that’s good enough” and keeps one or both on for next year.
The song “Earache My Eye” kicked on without my selecting it (happens sometimes when plugging in earphones to the device). Great little jam that did well in the pop charts, a spoof on glam rock stars of that era, with Cheech (Alice Bowie) nailing the vocals:
The world’s coming to an end, I don’t even care
As long as I can have a limo and my orange hair
