  1. - Dan Johnson - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 1:43 am:

I can’t sleep at 1:40 am so here goes

Irvin wants to take back his Democratic primary votes

    Or

They wanted him to lead the GOP ticket despite voting in Democratic primaries so …

    Irvin took it back

It’s all I got. Why are you awake Rich?

  2. - Robbie Gould Fan - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 3:58 am:

Irvin told cops to stand down and helped fuel the riots.

As for his false ad, he should “take it back.” LOL

  3. - Rabid - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 5:08 am:

    Torch light parade promotion

  4. - PublicServant - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 7:06 am:

After failing to answer the question about why he let “them” take it in the first place, Richard Irvin takes credit for “Taking it back” … after the downtown was looted, police cars and businesses burned, and the rioters, who we’re given carte blanche to loot as officers were told to stand by, got tired, and left to log in to Ebay.

  5. - Stormsw7706 - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 7:14 am:

Wow. Such a powerful leader. Waiting for his next ad. As Russia prepared to launch an attack on Crimea I parachuted into the breach point and fought the Russians to a standstill. Then I had a nice lunch that Mr Griffen paid for. He’s got my vote for sure

  6. - Bruce( no not him) - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 7:18 am:

    “They”
    Always “they”
    Who is “they”?

  7. - Flyin' Elvis'-Utah Chapter - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 7:57 am:

    “Who is they?”

Don’t have the foggiest. But we sure as heck gonna take it back from “them”.

  8. - Keyrock - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 8:02 am:

What corruption? I hadn’t noticed it.

  9. - Jane - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 8:09 am:

Looks like all of the Republican candidates will start out their Primary campaigns by running against Gov Pritzker. If their “soft on crime” message resonates, his poll numbers will likely be impacted negatively and could create residual damage for other Democratic candidates in 2022.

  10. - Keyrock - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 8:11 am:

Corruption - are we still trying to blame that Madigan guy?

  11. - Uptown Progressive - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 8:12 am:

“Irwin giveth and Irwin taketh away. Blessed be . . . “

  12. - 47th Ward - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 8:31 am:

Richard Irvin wants you to know your car’s warranty has expired and he just needs to know the make and model of your car to give you a great price on an extended warranty. Don’t risk having to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to fix your car. Press 1 to be connected to Richard Irvin, or press 2 to be removed from our mailing list.

  13. - DuPage Saint - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 8:36 am:

Is it possible anywhere to find a Republican candidate that does not want to take us or something back? It really is odd. Never a campaign about going forward always about taking back.

  14. - Skeptic - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 8:46 am:

“Never a campaign about going forward always about taking back.” Probably because they have no plan except to cut taxes no matter what.

  15. - Soapbox Derby - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:00 am:

    “TakeItBack” ?

It’s more like “BuyItBack” from the candidate that doesn’t bother to talk with voters, just sends them campaign ads.

  16. - OneMan - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:04 am:

I thought this was a caption contest.

    Well here goes…

Mayor Irvin reminds folks he is keeping an eye on Naperville.

Later it turned out this because the 4th most popular stock photo for ‘disappointed soccer dad’

Mayor Irvin tries to hide his reaction to finding out Naperville will be opening a new theatre featuring live entertainment called Thethreeofakindamount.

  17. - JS Mill - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:06 am:

‘He took it back, but he still won’t talk to you.’

  18. - Flyin' Elvis'-Utah Chapter - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:13 am:

    What, no backdrop of Afghanistan?

    Dilettante.

  19. - Cheryl44 - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:29 am:

I thought he was reminded mayors can’t call in the National Guard so he was taking back his claim to have done so.

  20. - Near enough the Champaign - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:30 am:

Is that picture off center? He seems to be way over to the left.

  21. - OneMan - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:44 am:

== What, no backdrop of Afghanistan? ==

From what I understand he served in Saudi Arabia and Iraq.

  22. - SKI - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:45 am:

Does anyone else get aggravated by this level of Spam? I’ve had 4 campaigns send me unsolicited text messages. I didn’t sign up for their lists, so leave my phone alone. For me, that’s 4 candidates who automatically lost my support.

  23. - Streator Curmudgeon - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:47 am:

Ad photographer: “Mr. Irvin, uh, folding your arms across your chest is body language for ‘I’m not listening to a word you say.’”

Irvin: “And then I’d like a couple shots of me pointing my finger at ‘them.’”

  24. - Paddyrollingstone - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:52 am:

All that comes to mind when I see ads like that are Fletch’s sarcastic quote, “God, I’d admire you.”

  25. - Jocko - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:53 am:

::while watching rioters leaving the local Food King::

“Cereal. Good grief. Haven’t these people ever watched supermarket sweep?”

  26. - Shark Sandwich - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 9:58 am:

Irvin is pushing the advantage here, but it was only a lucky break when “they” took over Aurora, “they” forgot to declare “No Take-backsies”.

  27. - cover - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 10:11 am:

    I’m up to 3, it’s extremely annoying.

  28. - Keyrock - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 10:19 am:

“I’m not listening to them and I won’t listen to you.”

  29. - Carlos Danger - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 10:21 am:

Great whiteout job Rich. I have no way of knowing what the recipient’s first name could possibly be.

  30. - Huh? - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 10:25 am:

    What are you lookin’ at?

    I can’t believe you did that…

    Just what were you thinking?

Are we really gonna that this conversation now?

    Some people…

Why did I ever get into the race for governor?

    What was I thinking?

  31. - Lt Guv - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 10:26 am:

Of course JB’s made some mistakes and has some things to answer for. DCFS & Veterans Affairs comes to mind immediately. But corruption? Come on. I thinks he’s the starightest governor in my lifetime. That goes back to Kerner.

Edgar was straight, but had Collins wrapped around his neck. Quinn wanted to be straight, but like Beetle had a case of “good for thee but not for me.”

  32. - Rabid - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 10:39 am:

    The get back tax tour

  33. - Rabid - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 10:42 am:

    New Chicago bear backfield takeitback

  34. - Streator Curmudgeon - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 10:51 am:

Without a hint of irony, Richard Irvin takes a page from Richard Nixon’s “Southern Strategy” playbook and launches the classic GOP ‘Us vs Them’ maneuver.

  35. - MisterJayEm - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 11:14 am:

“Richard Irvin: A new face for an old strategy.”

    – MrJM

  36. - Behind the Scenes - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 11:19 am:

I agree with a couple of comments above. How/where did these candidates get my cellphone number and e-mail address to send me these un-solicited ads and announcements?

  37. - Huh? - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 11:32 am:

Yeah. Do you really think I am gonna take questions from the lame stream media? A double no for that Rich Miller character.

  38. - Rich Miller - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 1:56 pm:

===“Richard Irvin: A new face for an old strategy.”===

    Man, that’s good.

  39. - The Ford Lawyer - Wednesday, Jan 26, 22 @ 7:49 pm:

It doesn’t need a caption, it needs a sound effect. Specifically, the Law and Order “Dun-dun!”
