Question of the day
Tuesday, Feb 1, 2022 - Posted by Rich Miller * I told subscribers about the possibility of the governor giving his address from the Old State Capitol earlier today. From the governor’s office..
A subscriber just noticed this page on the governor’s state website listing the administration’s accomplishments. * The Question: What should the governor say during his State of the State/budget address tomorrow? Snark is not necessarily encouraged, but allowed. /s

12 am. “I will open this evening by saying that I have had a few cocktails at The Alamo before coming over here, so let’s dispense with the prepared remarks and work off the cuff. First of all, this year I am proposing the re-criminalization of marijuana and taking the minimum wage back to $7.25 an hour…..

The page has been active for months. The previous PDF version of the accomplishments ran through June 2021.

Y’know, it’s never made any sense to me that we say “12:00 p.m.” when we mean “noon”.

It’s not a backlog. Payment cycle is 21 days or so right now. Get a grip.

Ironic that the outrage comes from those that say we should “run government like a business.” And in business 60-90 day payment cycles are not unusual.

And then around noon or 12PM, we can’t agree on whether to call Lunch “Lunch” or “Dinner.” And six hours later do we call it “Dinner” or “Supper.”

“Illinois is an improved financial state! One more serious pandemic and I think we can solve our budget woes by shifting the financial albatross from Illinois residents paying state taxes, to Illinois residents paying federal taxes.”
