As a coworker used to say, “What’s up? My blood pressure, but there’s medication for that.” (Rim shot)

  2. - H-W - Tuesday, Mar 8, 22 @ 8:41 am:

After 8 days of pretty acute, Covid symptoms, I finally feel fine today. Since I am an educator, I still have two more days of quarantine, but I slept last night, and do not have symptoms today, thank God. Vaccinate people. There is no justification for the people of the United States of America, and the People of Illinois, literally sharing a disease for two-plus years. We could have ended this much sooner if we actually cared for each other as Illinoisans should.

  3. - Frumpy White Guy - Tuesday, Mar 8, 22 @ 8:48 am:

Any chance the Senate and House Republicans will try to ban all apples in Springfield?

  4. - 10th ward - Tuesday, Mar 8, 22 @ 8:53 am:

Franchise tag day in NFL…could be a circus?

  5. - East Central Illinois Small Town Hick - Tuesday, Mar 8, 22 @ 8:57 am:

Gas prices. $4.39 a gallon this morning. Feeling a little sticker shock and grateful for my small car and good gas mileage.

Therein lies the problem. People do not care about the health and welfare of others - and its not just an Illinois problem.

  7. - Anyone Remember - Tuesday, Mar 8, 22 @ 9:10 am:

Jon Stewart has re-started his Apple TV show “The Problem” - the March 3, 2022 show was about “democratization” of the Stock Market not working (& indirectly touches on Illinois politics). While calling Wall Street out for using a tool created by Bernie Madoff, the name(s) most mentioned? Ken Griffin / Citadel. WARNING - NSFW.

Snow from yesterday is all gone. Sunny and windy today in beautiful DuPage County.

Some people don’t even care about themselves if it lets them own their political opponents.

$4.55 plus or minus in the Springfield and Chatham areas. Usually it was always a few cents cheaper in Chatham than Springfield but not recently.

Is it just me or does anyone else think Springfield area has the highest gas prices in Central Illinois? When Channel 17 or other stations show local gas price averages on their news, Springfield’s seems to always have the higher averages compared to Decatur and Champaign. What’s up with that?

  11. - Amalia - Tuesday, Mar 8, 22 @ 9:30 am:

it’s sunny, I have a warm home and enough money. watching those in need here and elsewhere makes me very appreciative of what I have.

  12. - Cheryl44 - Tuesday, Mar 8, 22 @ 9:36 am:

Snow is gone from my lawn (southern exposure) but not from the buildings across the street. Judging from the headgear I’m seeing on the dog walkers, it’s chilly out there.

Welcome to Springfield, Illinois - the Land Competition forgot!

  14. - former southerner - Tuesday, Mar 8, 22 @ 9:50 am:

Last night was the first time I photographed basketball at the Bank of Springfield Center, it is a beautiful facility with wonderful lighting and great staff. Unfortunately the Central Catholic Saints fell to Monticello but just wait until next year…

  15. - Banish Misfortune - Tuesday, Mar 8, 22 @ 9:50 am:

Drove back from a few weeks in the Southwest (I know, came back a week too soon) and looking at gas prices, I thought I really need to have my next car be at least a hybrid. Instead of thinking about rising prices, think about reducing consumption.

  16. - DuPage - Tuesday, Mar 8, 22 @ 10:36 am:

Too much stress. I’ve been told to quit watching the news for awhile.

$4.99 in my neighborhood. If you use anything other than regular unleaded, you are well over $5

Not much new up north, snow melting ahead of the next snowstorm… I do find it interesting that two current Village of Grayslake trustees are the likely opponents in the IL-62 House race. Laura Dias was only recently elected as a trustee; in that race she had a number of prominent local endorsements, including Sen Bush and former mayor Pat Carey. Adam Shores has been an effective trustee; his past political work included a stint with Jeb Bush. Should be interesting to see what kind of course he steers in the Illinois GOP of 2022.

  19. - H-W - Tuesday, Mar 8, 22 @ 3:29 pm:

@ DuPage - My wife and I actually gave up extended cable TV during the Trump years, as we saw too many news channels abandoning journalism and becoming public commentary channels. We finally gave up basic cable this past Fall. I must admit, I did (and do) feel a lot less stress without the 24/7 news cycle television that is less about news, and more about interpretation.

Same here, but due to indoor TV reception being a challenge in my apartment despite being in Chatham (if I want all major networks coming in reliably), I don’t want to give up basic cable. Plus there’s some of the religious channels I like some of the programs on too, especially on weekends.
