Election night results

Tuesday, Jun 28, 2022 - Posted by Rich Miller

* We’re going to link to the Tribune’s results tonight, but you can click here for the NY Times site, which is putting all results on one page. The Sun-Times results page doesn’t seem to be pay-walled, so click here for that. I may add or change this post. Let’s start with federal races…

* Statewides…

* Judicial…

* Legislative…

I’ll try to get Democratic State Central Committee races as well.

Discuss away. But keep in mind that lots of mail-in ballots won’t be counted tonight. Results can change as all the votes are counted.

Clicked on the links but the Tribune wants to me subscribe to them to view anything. Just an FYI

I generally agree, but they lost a lot of talent not too long ago, and I felt the quality suffered. Also once you unsubscribe they are among the worst spam robocallers out there.

  5. - QCMan - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 7:30 pm:

I subscribe to other papers other than the Tribune

  6. - David Thompson - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 7:31 pm:

Irvin $50M bet is biggest flop in Illinois political history.

  7. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 7:31 pm:

Is chicago board of election website down?

  8. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 7:35 pm:

    ===biggest flop===

Blair Hull has a compelling argument

  9. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 7:39 pm:

    I miss CLTV

  10. - Amalia - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 7:42 pm:

Agree OW…missing CLTV. this online stuff not cutting it for me, although good to check here (thanks for the links, Rich) while listening to catsup gate.

Davis smoking Miller right now 75-25.

I haven’t considered Trib a local paper since Zell bought it. I get Herald but really I am old and I am not anyones demographic I miss papers but lots of people missed penny candy and movie tone

  13. - vern - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 7:46 pm:

Anyone know a restaurant in the north suburbs that delivers crow? I might be eating a few bowls of it tonight…

  14. - JS Mill - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 7:50 pm:

    =Blair Hull has a compelling argument=

Ok, so I gave in and looked him up (should have been the first clue) I just for the life of me couldn’t remember much about him.

OW is right. As much as I like/enjoy OW I hate being wrong.

Irvin can’t even win the Biggest Flop contest.

    Dude can’t catch a break.

  15. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 7:55 pm:

    - JS Mill -

We *all* are “prisoners of the moment”

It’s a good argument on that question.

  16. - Nick - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 7:57 pm:

    I will again predict

Irvin doesn’t win a single county

  17. - Back to the Future - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 7:59 pm:

    QCMan
    Glad to hear that.
Did not mean to be critical.

  18. - Anti-Trump Republican - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:01 pm:

I wonder if my Republican primary write-in vote for Adam Kinzinger for Governor gets counted tonight or later this week in suburban Cook County.

  19. - Chito - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:02 pm:

Don’t feel bad for Irvin, he’ll still be mayor. What will Avery do?

  20. - Rich Miller - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:02 pm:

===I wonder if my Republican primary write-in vote===

    It never gets counted.

  21. - Live Wire - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:02 pm:

=Davis smoking Miller right now 75-25.=

    Don’t count your chickens…

  22. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:03 pm:

    ===What will… ===

    Wasted talent.

Then again, after tonight, that caucus come January might not be all that an inviting place to be after 2022

  23. - Amalia - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:13 pm:

wishing I had prepped an endorsement scorecard for endorsements from Pritzker, Durbin, and Iris Martinez. will be interesting to see how those turned out.

  24. - Big Dipper - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:18 pm:

At least Irvin knows where the dispensary is.

  25. - JoanP - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:18 pm:

    Not now.

  26. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:21 pm:

Bailey cracks that 50% threshold… tough not to say the Bailey type voter isn’t the base or further, *the* GOP

“Turnout” or not, or whatever excuse one might wanna say to lessen the reality, Bailey breaks 50% in that 6-way (it’s 5, but whatever) that’s the party.

  27. - QCMan - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:23 pm:

Irvin going to concede in a few minutes it looks like. Who would have thought that in a 6 way primary that Bailey would probably get 50% or more of the vote?

  28. - Maxwell 001 - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:26 pm:

Does anybody know why Maxwell 001 in Sangamon County is not reporting results yet?

  29. - Grandson of Man - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:29 pm:

Irvin is conceding now. Congrats to Sen. Bailey and yay, 1 for 1 so far tonight. Will go at least 2-3.

Irvin is whining now: JB won the Republican primary. Masterful performance by DGA, Proft, Pritzker and Bailey.

  30. - Friendly Bob Adams - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:32 pm:

    Big Dipper for the win….

  31. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:32 pm:

Did they even let Bourne speak tonight?

  32. - cermak_rd - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:33 pm:

He introduced her and praised her and she said an inaudible thank you and that was all WGN carried

  33. - Amalia - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:39 pm:

Cabonargi winning his State Central state but losing his job?

  34. - Baloneymous - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:41 pm:

Bailey may crack 55% if it keeps up and if most of remaining precincts are downstate.

  35. - Ron Burgundy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:43 pm:

Sullivan is conceding so I guess the Sullivan Surge was just indigestion.

Bummer, Bro. Think of it like a crypto collapse. Your investors lost everything, but you can get some more and start all over again…

  36. - Norseman - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:44 pm:

Irvin: Well Griff, this was a very fine mess I got for selling my soul to you.

  37. - Thisisme - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:45 pm:

    Anything on the brown-reeves race?

  38. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:49 pm:

Rabine speaks so fast… likes he’s double parked or something.

  39. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:51 pm:

    “Thanks to be God”

    - Bailey opens his speech.

    The tent revivals continue.

  40. - btowntruth from forgottonia - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:55 pm:

    Goodbye Illinois GOP.
    Hello Trump Party.

    sheesh

  41. - cermak_rd - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:56 pm:

    OW,
My SO turned to me and asked me what is he a preacher? I answered no, he just plays one on the campaign trail.

  42. - Ron Burgundy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 8:59 pm:

    Casten defeats Newman.

  43. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:00 pm:

    - cermak_rd -

The apostle Darren Bailey will be available in a tent near you.

    This is just a beginning.

  44. - Bob Cobb - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:01 pm:

Eileen Dordek ran an incredibly boring, vague, and arrogant campaign; she deserved to lose the race for the 13th House District.

She thought she could coast to victory solely on her endorsements, organizational support, and money, and she ended up getting completely outworked. Hoan deserved to win this race.

  45. - cermak_rd - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:03 pm:

What the heck is all the God talk about in the GOP? That was never Trump’s schtick (other than that from one cringy photo opp)

  46. - Ron Burgundy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:04 pm:

-What the heck is all the God talk about in the GOP? That was never Trump’s schtick-

It’s always been there with this crowd. Trump was just a means to an end. They’ll overlook anything to get what they want.

  47. - Try-4-Truth - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:09 pm:

Brady is the new JB Topinka. The last sane R left in IL.

  48. - Amalia - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:09 pm:

    whoa, state central races fascinating……

  49. - Three Dimensional Checkers - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:12 pm:

Interesting results on the Dem side. More progressive than I would have guessed, but I am not sure if it is a trend or just the way each individual race played out.

  50. - QCMan - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:13 pm:

In the 17th Eric Sorensen is widening his lead for his race

  51. - vern - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:19 pm:

Yingling is currently trailing by 6 votes… in his race for precinct committeeman. Talk about a base collapsing

  52. - Riversidian - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:25 pm:

That’s a wrap for Zalewski. Lost by 500 votes in a district with 55,000 registered voters and 13% turnout. I thought he might have some Machine mojo left, but I guess not.

  53. - Three Dimensional Checkers - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:26 pm:

Good night for never emailing though

  54. - JoanP - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:30 pm:

= What the heck is all the God talk about in the GOP? =

It’s always been there. It’s just that now they are saying the quiet part out loud. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/06/28/lauren-boebert-church-state-colorado/

  55. - In 630 - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:33 pm:

It’s really Jeanne Ives GOP out there now

  56. - G'Kar - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:34 pm:

I think a study of the Irvin campaign will make a very interesting thesis for a grad student somewhere.

  57. - Highland IL - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:48 pm:

Irvin in FB: “ Tonight, JB Pritzker won the Republican Primary for Governor here in Illinois. He spent a historic amount of money to choose his own Republican opponent for November. Over $75 million will be spent in total by all campaigns and outside groups.”

  58. - Norseman - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:52 pm:

I haven’t been paying attention to the Dem primary in the 15th. Is the nominee viable against Miller.

  59. - Pundent - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 9:57 pm:

It looks like a repudiation of pretty much the entire Griffin slate. Can’t blame that on meddling. The writing has been on the wall for sometime. Makes the days of when the IPI controlled things almost seem quaint. We always wondered what the ILGOP would do once they could no longer run on “Madigan.” Now we know.

  60. - AlfondoGonz - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:21 pm:

    Jonathan Jackson. What a shame.

  61. - BTO2 - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:27 pm:

Devore leading and by a pretty large margin in AG race.

  62. - Soccermom - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:33 pm:

    Norseman — no.

  63. - Norseman - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:36 pm:

    Thank you Soccermom

  64. - TheInvisibleMan - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:48 pm:

    Rachel Ventura beat Eric Mattson.

  65. - MisterJayEm - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:59 pm:

    Christian dominionism

  66. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 10:59 pm:

Tough to see either Welch or Durkin calling these results good for them..

  67. - AB - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 11:01 pm:

= Yingling is currently trailing by 6 votes… in his race for precinct committeeman. Talk about a base collapsing =

    Never underestimate Melinda Bush.

  68. - State Central - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 11:24 pm:

What’s going on with the contested State Central races?

  69. - Calderos Hand - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 11:43 pm:

    Chuy sweeps again

  70. - Holding Back - Tuesday, Jun 28, 22 @ 11:43 pm:

The 5th appellate race blows my mind. At of all the races, it caught me off guard.

  71. - Shytown - Wednesday, Jun 29, 22 @ 12:12 am:

== never underestimate Melinda Bush ==

    True that. She’s a rockstar.

  73. - Amalia - Wednesday, Jun 29, 22 @ 12:50 am:
