It’s a nice spot but they should have had her re-record the audio since it’s mostly VO anyway. Since it was filmed outside she’s just shy of shouting it, it would have made more sense to give her a second try for something easier on the ears.

Not bad, solid B. I might consider changing my title to Judge Advocate General Officer instead of JAG Officer, IMHO.
I had the unfortunate pleasure of briefly working with her at a state agency during the Rauner years. She wasn’t around very long. Based on my knowledge of her at the time and then watching this ad is worlds-apart difference. I guess people can change and maybe she has. But all I remember is that everyone in the office stayed away from her, I think even other Rauner hires.
Other than that, it’s a decent ad. B. She is showing compassion towards those who are struggling and she’s not going negative about how horrible our state is. And I didn’t realize she served in the military. I don’t know all her politics or if she’s a Trump or Bailey supporter.

C The “who I am” is fine, but the “what I will do” is missing.
Implying that Congress can somehow reduce inflation is misleading unless the Republicans have decided to ditch the whole free market thing and impose price controls.
Is this a state workers gossip about Esther thread or a rate the ad thread? I give it a- covers issues that keeps the base engaged while also works with indies and gets her name ID out there in a new remap. Not to mention outside of JB and Halpin- I don’t think anyone else is on TV in the 17th. Open airwaves.
C. Nice highlighting the military but her voice is annoying. I wouldn’t have said that had Clinton’s voice not been similarly mocked but it was so there you go.
- John-on-the-spot - Tuesday, Aug 23, 22 @ 1:27 pm:
This is a race I would give her a slight edge over Sorenson at moment. Not sure if this was one Dems felt good about keeping but in a Republican year she has a good shot
Very light on details. JAG officer means nothing to most voters. The sound of gunfire is off putting as she says JAG. The mix is off with the music, her voice and gun fire. I was expecting to hear the grocery checkout beep.
Content is fine. By virtue that King is on TV first, and two weeks before Labor Day, and 6 weeks before vote-by-mail ballots hit the streets, she’s showing she will fight to win election by start of early voting on Sep 29.
Doubtful her opponent had enough money raised for TV ad buy, so he’ll either have to delay being on TV, or a super PAC will have to buy ad time early to support him, or attack her.

Message isn’t too meaningful but she is saying it passionately.

I had to re-listen to that part 3-4 times because I thought I heard something else. I’m not used to hearing that title very much.
- Henry Francis - Tuesday, Aug 23, 22 @ 12:31 pm:
No mention of her time at DCEO in the Rauner administration? Granted she only lasted a few months . . .
I didn’t know JAG officers drove around in armored vehicles shooting guns.

Nice Ad.
Moves along and gives some information on the Candidate as well as why she is running for office.

B- it’s hard to get past the audio. It really does sound like she’s shouting and it’s borderline shrill.
- JS Mill - Tuesday, Aug 23, 22 @ 2:17 pm:
I give it a gentle persons C.
Not much about her other than she is a lawyer in the military even though she portrays the fighting part of the military.
She doesn’t seem to have a plan for the global oil market or much else.
- Correcting - Tuesday, Aug 23, 22 @ 2:26 pm:
It does nothing for me, but I don’t care for the military. To a normal person, probably a B though. Agree with Boone that the audio could be better.

Are you going after Big Oil? Big supermarket? Providing stipends for seniors or veterans?
