How long have you two been dating? I kid. I have never understood wearing a jersey of any kind with someone else’s name on it unless it is your kid or partner. Just seems weird.
I had great seats at the Bear game last night. ALL the Packer fans around me watching the big screens conceded the ball broke the goal line on 4th and 1. Stupid play call by the Bears to have Fields do a ‘quarterback sneak from shotgun but it should have been a 7 point game with plenty of time left. The screen operator twice circled the ball in green pen over the line on replays to the groans of the fans. No one could believe the call wasn’t reversed. When the call was confirmed the cheers were more sighs of relief than joy.
Finally returned to Berwyn (been in Iowa the past 2 weeks. Wanted to return last Sunday but watched coverage of the flooding and were like hmm, maybe another week.) Got here before Sunday’s big storm so that was good.
Weather’s perfect for gardening right now. Warmer nights (60s) help keep the peppers, eggplant, etc. going, yet it’s not too hot to nurture fall plantings of cabbages, peas, and lettuces.
In other news, NIU is reporting that it has been unable to pay student workers on time, supposedly because there are so many of them their system is overwhelmed.
NIU has also just approved the sale of its Hoffman Estates campus.
Ridiculously busy weekend. And yea, I’m with the Boomtown Rats.

When I first read the post Friday about JB’s new crime ad and how he was proposing tougher penalties for “smash and grab voters” I thought what a great idea. Those January 6 traitor types who tried to destroy American democracy should be serving months and years instead of the typical days and weeks, which they can do standing on their heads. Then I realized it was just a forgivable transcription error of “looters.” Oh well.
On another note, saw Chicago native Pat Sajak (keeping it Illinoiscentric) posing with one of those traitors. Guess it proves he’s a jerk in real life and doesn’t just sometimes play one on TV. You’d think he could find someone who would at least have a chance on Wheel. “I’d like to solve, Pat. Using a peach tree dish.”
Other than those thoughts my weekend was brilliant, thanks.
The Bears are who we though they were. It’s a 60 minute game; try playing all four quarters to win, not just in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
The Pack has to protect Rodgers better, or he’ll retire at the end of the season. 4 sacks and a couple of hits as he threw passes I saw? He warned the Pack by his tactics earlier this year; a real team might actually hurt him, because his line wasn’t as good as it needs to be.
I spent my weekend and my Monday working, and am only just now catching up here. So not a great weekend. But very glad to finally have time to catch up.

I don’t like most mondays, especially after a Bears game the last decade or four.

I’ve decided to stop watching Bears Packers games until the Bears win one. It’s pointless.

Good to know early in the football season what future Sundays may look like (not watching the Bears).

who calls a shotgun when the QB is going in and why couldn’t he hold the ball up clearly over the goal line?

I kept wondering if Dare Bear felt like Davey Crocket at the Alamo all weekend as my paisanos celebrated Mexican Independence Day. Viva Mexico, DB.

FCS SIU-Carbondale getting paid $550,000 to whack FBS Northwestern on Evanston Day at Ryan Field was pretty darn awesome.
First FCS win over a Power 5 conference member in 2022, to boot
