* I don’t like Mondays. OK, not every Monday. Just this one. So far. How was your weekend?

Stop the run (Bears) can’t stop the run.

  2. - Curious citizen - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 9:13 am:

The sun is shining and I’m wearing my Aaron Rodgers jersey. What’s not to like?

  3. - Give Me A Break - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 9:14 am:

It was a good weekend, the Illini didn’t lose.

  4. - JS Mill - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 9:14 am:

I don’t like most mondays, especially after a Bears game the last decade or four.

=I’m wearing my Aaron Rodgers jersey.=

How long have you two been dating? I kid. I have never understood wearing a jersey of any kind with someone else’s name on it unless it is your kid or partner. Just seems weird.

  6. - ChicagoVinny - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 9:19 am:

I’ve decided to stop watching Bears Packers games until the Bears win one. It’s pointless.

  7. - John Patterson - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 9:22 am:

    FANTASTIC weekend.
Had a great time in Evanston.

    None yo’ business. ROFL

  9. - Grandson of Man - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 9:38 am:

Good to know early in the football season what future Sundays may look like (not watching the Bears).

  10. - DEE - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 9:43 am:

I had great seats at the Bear game last night. ALL the Packer fans around me watching the big screens conceded the ball broke the goal line on 4th and 1. Stupid play call by the Bears to have Fields do a ‘quarterback sneak from shotgun but it should have been a 7 point game with plenty of time left. The screen operator twice circled the ball in green pen over the line on replays to the groans of the fans. No one could believe the call wasn’t reversed. When the call was confirmed the cheers were more sighs of relief than joy.

Finally returned to Berwyn (been in Iowa the past 2 weeks. Wanted to return last Sunday but watched coverage of the flooding and were like hmm, maybe another week.) Got here before Sunday’s big storm so that was good.

Weather’s perfect for gardening right now. Warmer nights (60s) help keep the peppers, eggplant, etc. going, yet it’s not too hot to nurture fall plantings of cabbages, peas, and lettuces.

In other news, NIU is reporting that it has been unable to pay student workers on time, supposedly because there are so many of them their system is overwhelmed.

NIU has also just approved the sale of its Hoffman Estates campus.

  13. - New Day - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 10:38 am:

Ridiculously busy weekend. And yea, I’m with the Boomtown Rats.

  14. - West Side the Best Side - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 10:53 am:

When I first read the post Friday about JB’s new crime ad and how he was proposing tougher penalties for “smash and grab voters” I thought what a great idea. Those January 6 traitor types who tried to destroy American democracy should be serving months and years instead of the typical days and weeks, which they can do standing on their heads. Then I realized it was just a forgivable transcription error of “looters.” Oh well.
On another note, saw Chicago native Pat Sajak (keeping it Illinoiscentric) posing with one of those traitors. Guess it proves he’s a jerk in real life and doesn’t just sometimes play one on TV. You’d think he could find someone who would at least have a chance on Wheel. “I’d like to solve, Pat. Using a peach tree dish.”
Other than those thoughts my weekend was brilliant, thanks.

  15. - Friendly Bob Adams - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 11:03 am:

My opinion is that this is as good as Justin Fields is ever going to get.

  16. - Amalia - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 11:15 am:

who calls a shotgun when the QB is going in and why couldn’t he hold the ball up clearly over the goal line?

  17. - Chito - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 11:18 am:

I kept wondering if Dare Bear felt like Davey Crocket at the Alamo all weekend as my paisanos celebrated Mexican Independence Day. Viva Mexico, DB.

  18. - Salukis FTW - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 11:43 am:

FCS SIU-Carbondale getting paid $550,000 to whack FBS Northwestern on Evanston Day at Ryan Field was pretty darn awesome.

First FCS win over a Power 5 conference member in 2022, to boot

  19. - thisjustinagain - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 2:06 pm:

The Bears are who we though they were. :( It’s a 60 minute game; try playing all four quarters to win, not just in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

The Pack has to protect Rodgers better, or he’ll retire at the end of the season. 4 sacks and a couple of hits as he threw passes I saw? He warned the Pack by his tactics earlier this year; a real team might actually hurt him, because his line wasn’t as good as it needs to be.

  20. - Leslie K - Monday, Sep 19, 22 @ 10:34 pm:

I spent my weekend and my Monday working, and am only just now catching up here. So not a great weekend. But very glad to finally have time to catch up.
