Wishing it had come much earlier, but I am looking forward to the predicted 20-degree temperature drop tomorrow, just in time for the first day of fall,
With the division realistically out of their grasp, the White Sox will need to turn their attention to the off season and their 2023 roster. Elvis Andrus played an important role on the team’s late season push and provides experience, leadership, a solid glove and a professional bat to a line up that is known to go through slumps all at once. The Sox should assure he is a part of their 2023 roster, especially considering their need to have a reliable second baseman and back up shortstop. And also… Go Bears!

The Sox were in position to at least make this an interesting series, up 3-1 in the seventh. They are 6 out because they lost the tiebreaker. Biggest disappointing season I can remember in a long time.

I’m thinking about all the Senate leadership and committee chair positions that will be open in the next GA.
Hastings and Jones are out of leadership and Collins and Munoz won’t be back in the chamber either. That’s at least four leadership positions.
Bush, Collins, Jones, and Munoz will no longer be chairing the Environment, Crim Law, Licensed Activities, and VA Committees, respectively. Sims and Hastings could be out at Approps and Energy chairs too.
In short, I expect a lot of change in the Senate next year.
Lyric Opera of Chicago which is a world class company started its 2022-23 season this month. Music lovers in this country and abroad see our magnificent opera house as a destination trip. Following is the final paragraph of a quite favorable review from an international website that reports on opera worldwide.
*It would be irresponsible not to advise caution about attending events in Chicago at the Civic Opera House and other venues in the Loop because of the blocks-long gridlock from the nightly car and truck parties that have closed streets and stopped buses and other public transportation. With people tossing fireworks at pedestrians from cars, caution is in order until safety resumes in the Loop. Let us hope that Chicago can resolve the issues soon for patrons of the Lyric and other ensembles.*
A McLean County judge ruled against a group seeking to put a referendum on the ballot that would change Normal’s town council from being elected in an at-large system to being a ward system.
The Normal Election Board had said the referendum couldn’t be on the ballot because Normal is a town (as opposed to a city or village).
Then the petitioners filed a legal challenge contending Normal isn’t actually a town. The attorney for the losing side was GOP AG candidate David Shestokas and the McLean County GOP had just come out in support of this effort so not sure if there will be any appeal or these folks will try again next cycle.

Observations from last night:
Robert looked terrible at the plate.
Relief corps a mess. Really lambert? Walk the first 2 batters?
No clue why Hendrix pitched against 8-9-1 in 9th.
Cleveland looking like they’ll be formidable for immediate future. Payback for what Jordan’s Bulls did to the Cavs.
Can anyone (RNUG) comment on how many classic cars can be expected Friday for the Route 66 cruise? I’m not sure if there’s a car show that day also. Thanks.
With Senate Democrats not supporting Hastings, why are unions and some lobbyists still giving him money? With his spigot turned off he will no longer be useful to all the people he pays off in the south suburbs. Please stop empowering his awful behavior. We are all watching.

Sox need to focus on their roster for next season and pull a few of the kids from AAA to give them a look.
Also, its blatant mismanagement if they haven’t started their coaching search.

Sad to see the Sox season end in a mess like this. But then they’ve been a mess all season.
Someone refresh my memory as to why the Sox didn’t want to hire Terry Francona…
